Well I just got back from Detroit and came home to find my new case waiting for me, I threw my XP-90 on my CPU and put my Nidec fan on that. I installed all my crap in my new case and here are my temps.

Now if it only didn't sound like a buzz saw.:laugh::laugh:
Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks, not bad for a used heatsink and an $11 fan on ebay, huh?

not bad at all! what were you ambients at?

I could only get air temps like that when I sat my open case on the terrace in late dec or jan

Thermostat says 70.8*F but it feels a little cooler than that to me.

Well then, I hate to say it, but Everest is probably misreading your temps. Try Core Temp and speed fan. Unless it's cooler than 61F in the room, those temps are impossible.

what does easytune report the temp as?

Core temp says it's not compatible with my CPU and Speed Fan wasn't displaying anything, but here's what CPU ID's HW Monitor had to say

I think my thermostat might be wrong. It's happened before.

Well, I'm just saying that temps below ambient are impossible, from a physics standpoint.
But if your room is below 61, then it's altogether possible.

Yes, none of those cpu temps are accurate whatsoever. Most likely the temp sensor in the chip is bad.

Agreed, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just gloating over my diesel powered air cooling. :D
The honest situation is probably just that my room is indeed cooler than 71*F, the thermostat is in the hallway, so there's plenty of room for variation.

try hooking an ac unit up to it!
ive always wanted to try that...

so theres over a 10F difference between the hallway and your room? 0_o

I've actually seen DIY sites that do that with water cooling, run it straight through the radiator of a window AC and then back into the PC, Not sure if they were using a recommended liquid or freon, but it was cool looking in the pictures.

yea i think ive seem something like that...i have a window unit buts way to far from my computer desk to try something like that, i would have to re arrange my room and im to lazy for that...but at any rate...im sure it makes for some very nice temps...

gonna have to agree with Wile E on this one
you'd have to be outside with a CRAZZZY air cooler to get those temps

I think the reason my temps were so low was because I had my window open, I closed it like five minutes ago and they went up to 19*C pretty quick. That obviously had a lot to do with it.

Your cores most likely idle around the 29c -32c mark at best with a normal room temperature.

I'm very seriously considering running a piece of duct work from my window AC to the fan port on the back my case and reverse the fans(intake on back, exhaust on front)this summer just to see what it'll do. It'll probably look like shit, but I'm curious about how much it'll drop my temps. My AC unit is about 3' to the right of my case.

lol, sorry to burst your bubble but those temps are simply impossible on air mate. Everest is playing one on you.
If you understand physics and the principle of convection, you will understand that-
1.the temp of the air in your room is the lower gradient ..
2.your cpu temp is the upper gradient,
3.your fan just helps speed up the rate of convection from a higher temp to a lower temp thus cooling your CPU.
Your CPU temps can NEVER be lower than your ambient room temp on aircooling unless ofc you put your PC outside in the cold or have an airconditioner in the room.

Pretty much unless it was like 60 degrees in the room....
My machine idles just above room temperature and I have 3 120mm fans blowing on top of the main fan on my heatsink and AS5.

Ya, everest mis-reads my temps too, says my proc idles at like 14c I believe....
Heck Asus Probe says like 18c.

yeah i agree with Wile E, Everest always showed 10c less than CoreTemp. But it might be my chip too. I rather use one that going give a higher temp, and work from there. :D
The lowest temps I get with my setup in specs: 22c (CoreTemp)
