Computer Freezing!

My computer has been freezing for the past 2 weeks. Whenever I play games, after about 15-45 minutes of gameplay, the computer just freezes and I can't do anything about it except to restart. I don't know what to do anymore.

I scanned my computer with anti-virus, and there were a few minor ones that were fixed/deleted. My computer was still freezing. So I cleaned the registry. It found a lot but all of them were fixed/deleted. And now it still freezes when playing games (WoW). Is there anything else that I should do? My computer is overclocked right now to 2.75Ghz, should I lower it?

If you guys could help me, I would be really happy!

Check the temps on it..Up the voltage a bump or lower the clock. Maybe update video card and chipset drivers

Would it help if I updated to SP3?

2.75GHz or 4.75GHz ? LOL i was thinking you had a C2D :p your system specs are not showing

try everything at stock see if it still hapeens might be the OC on CPU, MEM, Cards etc

Well, I've tried updating some drivers (like video card, sound card etc.) Now I'll play for a bit to see if it still freezes.

Do you guys think it's heat by any chance? I remember 2.75Ghz on my Athlon being the max, but that was tested during the winter...now it's summer and it's reaching triple digits here in Az. Should I lower it, or even take of the side window?

Check the temps with core temp or speed fan something like that. If you don't have AC in ur home then i would lower it back to stock speeds and try for slightly lower then stock v-core

Yeah I just played it it froze after about 20 minutes...damn this is pissing me off just because I don't know what the hell the problem is. I'll try putting everything back to stock and play again.

EDIT: Everything is back to stock, CPU, Video card, everything. Now I'll try playing again...if it still freezes then I really don't know what to do...I hope I come back with good news.

I'd say memory errors :confused: Run memtest :toast:

sounds like a driver issue to me... try cleaning up all of your drivers and then reinstalling fresh updated ones

It's every game, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Day of Defeat: Source..and it's not just demanding games either.

But the thing is, it's not freezing anymore! I lowered everything back to stock. I lowered my CPU from 2.75 to 2.00Ghz, and lowered my X800XL from 440/540 to 400/490. And I played for about an 1 hr 30 and it didn't freeze. It usually froze within 15-30 minutes.

Now, should I keep it at stock or still find the max overclock right now?

I say try and find a new stable overclock. Overclocks do degrade over time as slowly hardware wares out.

I would keep it stock if your temps are kinda warm just for the life of the hardware....try like 2.4ghz
GPU/vram 420/500
not much on the video card but still get you a few FPS. Maybe just as high as you can on the CPU with stock voltage

Alright, I'll see what I can do. I still get great FPS on WoW though, and that's the only game I play now...

If you are happy with what you are getting and aren't a benchmark junky then don't worry about overclocking

sounds like its your video card overclock then, i'd check your cpu oc just in case too

Id run memtest in DOS to make sure the ram is OK....it was my original thought to your symptoms...but I wanted to see if dropping the OC helped. It lightened the load thats for sure...but being positive is better than ruining a HDD from corrupt files and saves!
