Ive had my "Compaq X09" since 2003, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00044568&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=377993

recently ive noticed that my system crashes sometimes, sometimes it gives me the blue
screen (which i cannot read what the code is because it displays it for half a second and it boots the system) But lately its been doing it alot.

I have ran HD Tune to see if theres any bad sectors with my hard drives.
I have also ran Prime95 to see if its CPU related.
And i have also ran a RAM Tester and nothing shows up.

I recently bought a Ultra X 600W power supply and i also upgraded its memory to 2GB,
but the problems were occuring before i did any upgrades period.

Any further help or ideas would be really appreciated.

thank you in advance.

well first off, that computer has had a good run and maybe you could simply build a new one and donate that one to a charity. if you dont want to do that, then perhaps you should wipe your HDD and do a complete fresh install. it is either a virus or your hdd is failing. since it is 5 years old i bet it related to your hdd. just a guess.

Ok. One thing to try, is go to Control Panel, System, and the Advanced tab, then Startup and Recovery. And untick "automatically restart", or there will be a drop down box. Either way, make sure it's set to not automatically restart.

That way you will be able to read the blue screen without it restarting.

Then you can tell us what error you get.
