View Full Version : How Else Can I Mod my PC?
What can I do to this machine without buying anything more for it? I've overclocked it, found it's max oc. I've BIOS flashed my video card, softmodded my Audigy II ZS to an Audigy 4. What more could there be for me to do to it?

Disable non-essential servies. Run "services.msc", find and disable services that are non-essential and you find rudimentary. Some of these benefit security when disabled. Remote Registry for example. Download and install the trial of O&O Defrag v8. The trial is fully functional for 30 days, just run a defrag.

Actually use the machine for something useful and/or fun instead of spending hours on your e-penis? Play a game or something ;)

Volt mod the 8600.
+1 :pimp:
requires money :p
I would have to buy a cooler. I already say 70c on a hot day.

I agree with Dan. Play some games. Go get AOC so I can constantly spawn kill you. Seriously though, do you play any games? Steam games?:D
*3rd or 4th edit... Get a larger monitor, and go from there. Mwahahaha!
stop telling me to get monitors :p
The only steam games I ever played was the games you got in that generic offer I found about when installing new drivers... OH IF YOU HAVE AN NVIDIA CARD WE WILL BRING THIS DEMO TO YOUR ATTENTION!! HL2 LOST COAST!!

You should get Pirates, Vikings and Knights II (PVKII) for steam. It's very fun, and your system should run it very well. It's basically a FPS with swords, axes, kegs, bows and arrows, etc.
Getting a larger monitor will make you want to upgrade your video card. I'm just trying to spurr on some progress!;)
I have plenty of games :/
I just... obtained Crysis, Imma wait until summer though before I get into it. School's almost out :)
is there any way to fix dead pixels?

Lol, Parrotkill! Oh, I have admin powers on Banjo Boys 24/7 server and play on it regularly. There are some surf maps, which can be pretty brutal if you don't know how to surf. Counter Strike players and TF2'ers may know what surfing is. Personally, I love getting kills with long axe throws or arrows. Very satisfying.:D Bring your mic! Calling your mama names can also be very satisfying!
wtf its a half life 2 mod, I don't have half life 2
is there any way to fix dead pixels?

I believe you just need to download Source SDK and the PVKII game files to get it to work.
what about this question??
Get a new monitor.:p There really is no legitimate way. You can "massage it" with a pointed eraser, or there are some types of software that will try to do it.

*As far as using the Q-Tip, you just want to be careful that you don't harm any pixels around it. I really wouldn't recommend doing this, unless you have funds for a new monitor in your budget.
damn. I let jscreenfix run for like a half hour and it didn't fix any of my deadies. I'll let it run while I'm at school tomorrow...

You really don't want to run that program too long or too often. You'll just end up doing more damage. You should try to get your hands on a 19" Widescreen! It's upgrade time! You will like a bigger screen a lot more than you think.:)

I went from a CRT to a 19'' wide and it made a world of difference. Trust me you DO want a new monitor!
I just want to fix the dead pixels on this one... it's actually a really nice monitor

There is no real fix for dead pixels, only the two methods I mentioned and they generally do not work.
:banghead:
