Running HD 3850 @300/900, 790/1071

Should I install CCC or just the drivers, what advantages are there in CCC?

AI etc.

Thanks for any advice

CCC gives you more settings, such as AA/AF, etcetera. I'd install it, but there are alternatives. Search of ATi Tray Tools-its a good substitute to CCC.

Thanks for reply,

AA kills my card, and can AF etc not be set through the programs them selves, or is there a difference?

Thanks

You can set a higher level of AA through CCC. Like for really old games like CS1.6 I sometimes do that for shits and giggles

Your choice. It uses some resources when its running, but note you can install it then disable it from running through msconfig.

Does the AI in CCC give in game performance increases for games such as COD4 Crysis etc.

Thanks

Ai fixes issues that game companies don't fix in patches. You have to have CCC installed or tray tools to use it.

I would recommend installing CCC.

First thing that comes to mind with just the WDM vs.CCC ...will powerplay still operate correctly, or will the card run 3D clocks full time?

This says no! ...http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=80551

Maybe a send PM to W1zzard to confirm this?

+1 CCC, back in the day it wasn't as necessary, but they've done a lot of work improving AI, adding powerplay, and overclocking is guaranteed to work. Provided your card isn't locked. Figure, the guys that made CCC have the best working knowledge of how the card works, and more $/time/people to dump into development. I'm not knocking other OC tools, as they have their uses, but for what CCC is packing, better to use it for what it is.
