Looks like the problem MAY be related to your "PCI-E 16X@4x".

As far as issue 1 & 2 go, I am unsure of but that looks about right. RV670 is both 3850 & 3870.

Lots of cards are read as theh 3800 series, this is very common, I don't think that any card is actually read as a RV670XT, and the freezing in games might be due to the card overheating.

Ok, I am guessing you have your card in the black PCI-E slot, that slot only operates at 4x, move it to the blue slot which operates at 16x. And temps look fine, so you might want to uninstall the drivers before you move the card and reinstall them.

That happens with many of the 3870's, and possibly some 3850's. I have 2 3870's and they both are read as 3800's.

All 3870's with newer Catalyst drivers show up as 3800 series. Everything seems to check out except the fact you are having VPU recovers. Is the card in the correct slot now? If you are still getting the VPU recover, I would try to RMA the card, or make sure it's not a normal 3870 IceQ with a turbo bios on it.

I installed on the site the his ditigal.
No vpu recover error..
No crashing..

Hmmm. That's actually very good to know as I had my cards flashed to the Turbo version and had to deal with VPU recoveries. I never tried the drivers on the HIS site, but I always assumed they weren't any different than the drivers on ATi's website.

Orginal CCC 8.4 and HIS edited 8.4 drivers are same changes.. (CX_61006.inf file differents)

note: I'll try CCC 8.6 Beta drivers and 8.5 no problems...
Sorry my badly english :D

What is wrong with the card? is it under performing?

You have all the same GPUz info as I have on my ICEQ3. Mine is a non turbo witht he turbo bios, everything reads the same.

Mine idles at 45-50, and runs at 60 unless i turn the fans on to 70% in which cause it runs at 50.

As for the GPU recovery probably a a mixture of things, drivers are still getting developed with these cards really.

JAmes.

Just fyi, that bios did not work with my card at all. Unsure of why, it would not me install any drivers.

I am now searching for an 864mhz fix bios for the card. Anyone with any ideas?

PS: I am also using the Official 8.5 cats no problems.

If you have a reference card, the BBA BIOS should work, just uninstall the current drivers, flash the bios, and install is how I was able to flash my Visiontek's with BBA BIOS even though it isnt a reference card.

See, I don't think it is a reference card. It's this one:

I really want to get this done cause I think I can squeeze quite a bit more out of the card. Should I try upping the clocks via bios flash? Maybe 875/1300?

I mean as in what version, copy and paste the line (or type it out manually if you can't copy it) from GPU-Z.

Right, forgot you were at work, my Visiontek's have the 10.073 BIOS and don't seem to have the 864 "lock" on them, I don't know what you have tried to get on your card, but I would think it shouldn't.

**sighs**

I dunno, I am scared to try just any old bios let alone just flashing the card gives me the jitters. Think I should just go ahead and edit my stock backed up bios?

That would be the safest way to flash a BIOS.
