well, I got my old computer back from mom, since my dad got a new one and gave her his old one which is faster (won't be for long, I already got a 2.8 P4 in it heheh)... it used to have a 2GHz celeron... I changed the celeron out for a P4 Northwood and took the IHS off the celeron with a razor blade. I have no idea yet if it still works or not, hopefully my uncle has something laying around I can drop it in... wether it works or not though, I plan to blow it up on the 4th of July :rockout: by taping it to a mortar or taping it to 4 bottle rockets at a time :rockout: :laugh:

man I really need to get my own camera lol
I can take a pic of the cpu laying next to the ihs though. I will try to remember to take a pic of the cpu before it's final flight lol

haha sweet!

i might make sure it works before you send it to the moon though, someone might want to buy it...doubt it though.

have fun!

:laugh::laugh::laugh::roll::roll::roll::D:rockout: :toast::respect:

You guys are really funny. Leave that poor chip alone. As such its crippled why do you bother to kill it :laugh::roll: May be relieve it from its misery?

you should just run it with no hs/f and no ihs and see how hot it gets using one of those infrared temp guns.

I don't have a temp gun. I can, however, run it and see what coretemp says. Does coretemp even work? lol
I think my uncle has a rig with a 478 mobo without a cpu laying around, i'll bring it over and throw this thing in and see what happen

MAYBE I DO! Got a P4 with a x21 multi lolz
does that work on the 2.8ghz/512k/533FSB P4 northwood?

should work with any 478 chip, all it does is manipulate vid+vcc pins making the mobo think the chip is 1.7v default,

1.7v will need serious cooling though, and I doubt my biostar board with a via chipset can go that high :(

it should, its in the range of voltage the board is supposed to supply, iv ran over 1.7v on a willamette an it was fine,(its default voltage was near 1.7v anyway)
