First off I dont think, well I know, you wont be able to run SLI on that X48 motherboard!

Crossfire with ATI cards is an option though!

Wait for the 4 series ATI cards or get the 3870x2.

wait for the 4870 or the 4850 and if your happy with it good. if not you can pick up another one for crossfire later on.

As has been said, you can't run SLI. Did you only want to do this because you want the most powerful graphics set up you can have or are you an Nvidia fan over ATi/AMD?

Also is there a budget or you don't care about price?

There are plenty of great cards from both ATI and Nvidia that will play DX10 games at the moment, and more coming very soon.

What is your plans on how you intend to use this computer?

Do you plan to overclock?

For the price of DDR2 ram these days I say pick up a 800Mhz kit instead of 667.
