I know the 4000 series is coming soon and I'm not getting an Nvidia due to having a crossfire board. I am selling my Gecube 3870 to a friend and have been looking into getting another Sapphire 3870 single slot or a 3870 X2. My screen res maxes out @ 1680 x 1050 so would having 3 GPU's be overkill if I get an X2? I've been happy so far with most of my games, except Crysis but I wont say more. I play mostly MVP 05(I know, old game, but I use the 07 conversion mod, stadium upgrades, and 1x-2x uniform mods so it looks great), Vegas 2, and racing games(NFS, Dirt, and the soon to be released Grid and Burnout Paradise for PC).

X2 can be had for a good deal now. I'd say X2 if you can't wait for the 4800 series.

Just two short weeks! Don't make a purchase you may regret later. But, of course if you can find an exceptional deal on a card now, go for it.

I have another 3870 and if I go with a 4850 or 4870 then I will not be able to crossfire them together. Also I would assume when the 4850-70 come out there should be some really good deals on the 3870 x2. I guess I'll see when the 4800 series is released and see what the prices are.

Exactly, hold on until the 4800 comes out and then see how the market looks. It REALLY is far too soon to be buying a new card.

It's not like "oh there's something new coming out in a few months" we're talking weeks, and pricing will be announced, as well as special offers, and price drops on the current stock.
