to be addictive the game needs a large community, a goal and the player has to have some appreciation for science fiction. I don't think world of warcraft is any different than some other mmo or even single player games. i'm guessing most people who are addicted will say they submitted to curiosity from the size of the community. one of the things I like about EVE is they were the first to implement a complete player driven economy.

counter-strike when it hit retail during version 1.3 people were just as addicted and all kinds of incidents popped up like divorce and even murder. the blair witch project, the matrix, the sopranos, star wars, counter-strike, world of warcraft and who shot jr all of these are bigger than life you can't expect them not to be under a microscope. :p

Lust wouldn't per say be a "sin" in the definition of the biological basis of morality. Now biblical I get, yeah thats listed in the bible, but for the atheist/agnostics it doesn't follow. Lust isn't even remotely something that can 100 % be considered harmful to the person or human kind as a whole. Since everyone, regardless of religion experiences some degree of lust throughout there lives saying a natural state is always immoral seems kind of, well silly. You can lust after someone or something without acting on it, you can act on it and never harm anyone, You can even lust after someone you already have. So where is the moral conundrum with lust?
