Score looks alright but considering My rig pulls down numbers around 13500 with an 8800gt and a dual core at 3.6ghz. Getting 15000 with a quad core at 4ghz doesn't seem to be that incredible. And these days you can pick up sli 9600gt's for a little more than that.

You did your 13500 score was with the GPU OCed, no?

From what i'm able to see, the 4850's GPU isn't OCed and, considering i gained ~1400 point with OCing my GPU (on stock VGA cooling), i wouldn't be surprised if this GPU, OCed, could score @ least 2K more ...

Actually AMD says that that is the target for the 4850 anyways to be better than the 8800gt right? and this is on beta drivers so that's pretty good for just beta drivers

15K sounds pretty impressive to me. Wonder if thats with using vista or not because vista killed me for like 1000 points.

Considering the price of the card thats quite the deal i'd say.

edit- 1000th post :D

Congratz on the 1000th post, dude :)

Dunno: i've never ran 3D06 in XP but i ran it with compatibility mode in Vista and without it as well: the difference was like 100 points or so with compatibility being better.

lol @ HK. 1699 HKD = 216 USD. Sounds about right but we americans like nice round prices too. We should get it @ 199 or so. That's pretty good for being able the beat up a 9800gtx.

It's in XP... you can tell by the CCC titlebar, and it says so in 3dmark 06.
For a 4850 thats not bad - almost double the 3850 score. Although not an impressive score in terms of current cards.

No that was stock on the gpu. In my experience at least, bumping the cpu up had a far greater effect on my score than raising the graphics card ever did.

I gained little over 2300 with OCing both CPU and GPU and the GPU made a BIG difference in my score.

I suppose it depends on the CPU: OCing quads should give more points then OCing duals to the same speed, no?

From what I see he is using a QX9650 @ 4000MHz and Windows XP with this PowerColor HD 4850 to get his 3DMark score of 15,194. Is this video card overclocked to 670MHz/1100MHz? I believe the default HD 4850 GPU clocks is set to 625MHz and the memory set to 993MHz.

If it is true...

Only his intel X9650 clocked at 4GHz scores 6278..

Then this powercolor 4850 would perform (at least with 3d mark06) as a currently available 3870
