Just a quick question i was sat pondering last night - what would be better performing, dual 8600 GT's or my single 8800GT @ the clock speeds in my specs?

one 8800gt!
is it? i just assumed that the 2 cards moderatly clocked would outperform the single . . . plus i like the thought of SLI :p haha.
then get another 8800gt :)

good point . . . but i would need exactly the same card am i correct? this is an ASUS EN8800GT TOP, so i couldnt just but an £80 GT id have to buy exactly the same card?

well, judging by the :p at the end of my post and the other two poster's (plus myself) i think it's safe to say that you can run out and buy yourself another gt and enjoy some SLi
and considering you gave hat a thnx i thought you already had the answer

as long as it has the same amount of memory, and if ones and OC card they will both run at the slowest card speed i think that how it works out :).

mo its just i hadnt thought about another GT - like my main post says, i was wondering if the 2 8600's could outperform a single GT. Then we got onto the subject of SLI'ing GT's and seeing as i didnt even think about that, i gave Hat thanks ;)
Thanks for the input intel, i MIGHT be going SLI then, who knows. If so, another accelero will be bought aswell haha. I might go for it within a couple of weeks, might leave it until i go intel + quad though.

but seriously, what sort of a performance increase will i be looking to get? If i get say an £100 card, clock them both to 700 - 1800 - 200, will i really notice a difference? and then, will my CPU bottleneck the performance of an SLI rig?
So many questions! haha.
your cpu will bottleneck in epenismark but not in real world games and such

not too much of a loss then. Its something im going to have to consider then :toast:
