1GB 8800GT vs 512MB (1GB?) 4850?

I would all have to be speculation, but I would guess that 4850 would beat the 8800gt. Probably have new features like DX10.1 and less power consumption and greater overclockability due to the 55nm process.

*I was a little to hasty. If people can't behave themselves here, then the thead will be closed for a while. There are some benchmarks out there, but really it's only fair to do such a comparison after the product is released and drivers are finalized.:)

Speculatively the 4850 is supposed to be competing w/ the 9800gtx, so it should be faster than the 8800gt, a good deal faster. Supposed to be $199. Might as well wait and see though right, it would be a shame to buy a card so close to the new ones. Also I believe it's only coming in 1gb flavors at first, a lower version w/ 512mb later. All just chatter around the courtyard though......

Actually the 512mb 4850 seems to be the card that will be launched first. I haven't heard anything about a 1gb version so far. I haven't even heard anything about how much memory the 4870's are going to launch with.

thus far from the rumors I've seen the 4850 will have 512mb mem (no news ona 1gb version) and the 4870 will come in both flavors of 512 and 1gb.

(not shown above, but from elsewhere) 8800GTX is 10-15% faster, on average, than 8800GT

= 4850 is 15%-20% faster than 8800GT
