Someone help me compare

My cousin just can't quite believe the fact that my older 1900 XTX is faster than his 8600 GTS, because "the GTS is newer so it should be better". I kept telling him my card came out for high end market while his was for mid range.. can someone please clarify the difference in speeds of both cards and if anyone has any benchmarks i'd appreciate it.

Been done here already, and from what I gather the 8600 is an updated 7600GT for the most part.

You can kinda pick them both out using tomshardware charts, useful in the case I guess. Shows the XTX is overall faster, and considering how DX10 hasnt gone so great so far, you can say its better.
