I bought one of these keyboards a while ago. Dell SK-8135.

When I got it, a number of keys barely worked. I say barely because if you held them in for a while, or just bashed them around a alot, you would eventually get a keystroke out of them. So I got a replacement sent to me, and it played happily for 2 months or so. Now, the new one is doing it too! It's doing it to these keys:
E,R,I,O
On the old one, I remember it doing it to the D and L keys as well. It's such a pain. If you bear with it for a while, eventually it will fix itself. I don't get it, as trying other models of keyboards, I have no problems, but this model just doesn't want to play nice.
There are no drivers available for it, and I've tried re-installing the current MS drivers. Also tried another USB port. Any suggestions?

Is your pc a Dell? Seems to be by your specs, but try this - http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=085A754D3AE445638458158369995C80&c=us&l=en&s=gen
and truely, thats all i could think of really. Try a different USB port, but it usually doesnt matter

Thanks for your response :)
Nah, it's not a dell, it's one I built myself. That dell KB article didn't help, but thanks anyway!

well damn. i missed that somehow.

All i can suggest is that if the keys keep failing, wiggle the cord, try another port... and get another keyboard. return it, RMA it, sell it, whatever. Grab a logitech or microsoft keyboard, and suffer no more!

Hit it with a stick!

(That is a high quality Cougar Fighting Stick, you might want something cheaper. :D)
Seriously though, ask if you can send it back and get your money back, then spend it on a Microsoft keyboard: they're quite good, and have all the multimedia functions you could want.

That happened to my keyboard as well, but it seems the inside was dirty just need to clean the plastic film inside the keyb, the ones with the contact points where the rubber pads of the buttons hit.

Thing is, it's happened to BOTH of these keyboards, like, I already got a replacement. I still have both of them. Brand new, out of the box.
I didn't get this for it's multimedia capabilities, I got it because the keys press down much nicer than any other keyboard that you can get for 30 bucks.
I love the keyboard, so I'd just like to sort it out. :)

give it a good clean, if its doesn't help then it didn't hurt anyway.
