View Full Version : A story about a BF2142 disc and a disgruntled user
When I first got my BF2142 disc it was scratched up, to the point where I have to try to install it multiple times before I get lucky enough to actually install it. I never bothered returning it cause once I got it installed, the game worked fine. So yeah, it only has trouble installing.
A little under a year later, there is natrual wear&tear, add that to the damage that came with it... I can still get it to install and work, but I am starting to get worried about the future. I tried copy/pasting the contents of the origional DVD and burning it to a blank DVD and using that, it installed but when I tried to play, it bitched at me for not having the disc in. Go figure...
I legally own the game, or if you want to get technical, the rights to use the game, whatever... anyways I want to get this thing copied to a disc PROPERLY, so when I try to play with the copied disc it doesn't bitch at me.
Suggestions, genglemen?
If possible I want to just make a perfect copy of the game, I don't really want to have to use any funky software that hacks away the copy protection.

You've paid for the game so I say sod it and use the funky program to strip the copy protection.
Yeah but I don't want to be doing that... just overcomplicates things

Just download a pirated copy of it, though I'm not sure if you can play online unless you enter your original KEY when asked.

Try to get Alcohol 120% and make an image file of it with the anti-piracy protection thingy (secrom or whatever). You're legally allowed to since its a backup copy.

that or look online for a disk thats very small image of BF2142 that tricks the game to think its the real disk, works with alot of games and im pretty sure BF2142 also

Use alcohol 120%,use the wizzard to start the image making process. When it gets to 10% cancel it and when it asks if you want to delete the image it started making, select no.you can still mount the part image and use it to run the game.
You are legally entitled to make a single backup copy of software you have bought,so this is no cracking or modifying it in anyway. You can still patch the game this way, which you cant do if you crack it.

since the disk is scratched id download a new iso, install from that,(dont burn just mount image in daemon tools or other virtual drive),
as long as you use your own key its fine,
& those "patched exe's" makes things less complicated as you dont need to insert disk/mount image every time you play,
alcohol doesn't work
f*** weak
I hate copy protection, heh
no "patched exe's" for v1.5 either

best you can do is get another iso, but use your disk when you want to play an hope it can read it,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out, I just bought the game the other night and it comes up and starts to install, gets like one section of the install bar done and then it says ERROR: please insert disc 0. Retry?
I was like wow, disc zero, and I have to quit it because the same message dosent go away.
PLEASE HELP ME!

Run Clone XXL
This tells you what copy protection the game is useing.
Then open up alcohol 120% and click the right settings to burn it off on.
You will see a lot of read right error as it goes down.
Then to put it back on disc, burn it back with the same copy protection.

i used to use nero6 disk copy/image option, with raw mode on skip errors on, but i dont see the options in nero7:(

But do you think I should burn it to another disc or would that not be the answer to my problems?

120% does it different than Nero.
Nero will let you make a install copy of a game.

Go to that link I just posted and open the program up two times. Let it run for 30mins or so, if you see errors then you know what the problem is.

I think this is not a ideal solution. Somebody here was selling that game for $10 shipped. Why not buy it from him?
my 2 cents

Nero will let you make a install copy of a game.
i unchecked delete image file after copy, i cancel after disk copies and end up with a .nrg image file, then mount using daemon, whatever copy protection there was ended up in the image too,
it worked on a number of my games, c&c ts, ra2, toca race driver, doom3,
gonna get alcohol though as the newer version of nero has this option stripped out.

Copy your disc to an iso or something so you can install it. Then go to gamecopywxxxx.com and get a crack for it to bypass disc checking.

lol thats what i usually do, but its a pain if a game gets updated, a mini iso or disk image saves headaches,

use daemon tools and make a iso or image, it should be able to bypass copy protection (safe disk and securom)
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/index.php?
[edit] i can't find any mini images :(

daemon tools adds the missing copy protection that was ripped out. The copy you made can not start the game when copied with nero.

i burned a couple back to disk and the games thought it was original disk, red alert 2 and toca race driver,
