Modular power supply question(S)

Going to be installing a GTX 280 soon and have to dish out for a new PSU.
I am considering a modular unit, yet I've never worked with them before. All I know is that it allows for better cable management, yet the electrical resistance can decrease power output.

Is this a self-explanitory situation, or will I need proper voltage tools to test the leads?

No, the voltages will be fine, don't know where you heard that :confused:

I would suggest a corsair modular PSU as they are know to be the most stable, well built and silent PSUs around. I would suggest a HX620W at least for a GTX280 or maybe higher

Thanks for the reply and recommendation.

I'm already going with a Silverstone DA750.

It's good to hear I won't have to anything extreme. I just can't see myself in my mind plugging in the leads, much like you would when thinking of computer build.

I suspect there will at least by some markings or documentation to tell me where to plug things in.

yeah, the whole 'power loss' and 'increased resistance' through the connector concept was mostly people over scrutinizing and trying to find fault in the concept. Modular is a proven method.
