Sorry man, going to need more information regarding the specs of the computer. Mainly which motherboard, what processor, video card, ram and power supply. Usually most of the problems with speaker beeps is ram or video card related though.

It is a Soyo Dragon Motherboard, it has a AMD proc- I think it is a 2400, Has 384Mb of PC2100 mem, has a Nvidia MX4000 video card, and a Just PC 425w PSU.

Ok, just a shot in the dark here. Try each stick of ram in single operation. If that does not help reseat the CPU & HSF and re-apply some TIM.

Ok I have already done that with the RAM but could you elaborate more on the second part?

Now it does have a 4-Port USB card in one of the PCI ports and a 2-Port Firewire card in another PCI slot. Now could that be effecting it?

It is possible that oxidation has settled a little bit and remember, the pins on the cpu are gold. Also, it will give the cpu a refresh of cleaner temps.

Well I just took off the CPU Fan and it is a Socket 462, and it is a Sempron 3000. And I just took everything apart and put it back, and I am going to start it back up to see if any thing changes.

Could it possibly that there is no thermal paste on the heatsink?

Eek, no paste. Not good. Those are my only thoughts though.

well that looks to be the problem then... put some thermal paste on the cpu before putting the cooler back on... search these forums for how this is done "Applying Thermal Paste". Im sure theres loads of posts.

Well I just started it, and it beeps once, then it beeps but it is just one long beep.

OK, one long beep. Hmmmm ....

Got an extra power supply around? Also reseat your PCI cards while your at it.

try on bios to turn off "Power Down when CPU FAN fail" option.

I cant do anything, it shuts down before I could possibly get a picture on the screen.

Yeah it Beeps once, then it beeps again but it is just one long beep until it turns off. And I did reset the cards.

EMok1d08@ I cant do anything, it shuts down before I could possibly get a picture on the screen.

-look if all fans are running
-control if all heatsinks are correctly installed
-shut down pc
-reset bios (for set cpu speed clock)
-unplug cables: dvd,HD and floppy
-plug corectly your graphic card power cable
-remove one memory ram (after try another ram)

try if you can boot without problem.

i wait request!

I just added a different card in the slot, it is a AGP Pro slot, but I am putting AGP cards in there.

wait so you just installed a new video card?

Castiel
06-19-2008, 10:01 PM
No this is a New build for a friend, and there is no installed video cards in it, no OS yet, I am trying to install a OS. So I switched out a video card that has not been installed, both of them, to see if it was that card.

so you tried 2 video cards in this new build and still no go?

does the motherboard have integrated graphics? also check your motherboard manual for the beep code and make sure it says video error too

Yeap 2 cards and it still wont seem to work. And the motherboard doesn't have integrated graphics. And I am not even sure that it is the video card that is making this problem.

Yeap the manual says something about beeps but its says nothing else to help. Now on the manual it says K7 Athlon or Duron processor supported, now I have a Semporn in there, could that be the problem?

@Em0

I think I have an Asrock board somewhere around my place. I will have to dig but it supports pretty much the whole line of Socket A.
