Well i'm trying to go with a 45nm processor, i'm looking at q9300 and the q9450 just wondering if there is really any big difference between the processors that I would notice, I mean i'm coming from a 5000+be and I just purchased a dfi lanparty x48 and I want to start out with a proper quad core, I mostly game with the occasional video encoding. When I finish school I'll prolly be doing alot more video encoding

The Q9300 is terrible.. I wouldn't waste my money on one. Get a Q9450 if you can or Q6700. If your on a budget tho the Q6600 is still great.

From what I've read the Q9300 seems to be a bad overclocker, but at stock speeds and slight overclocks it outruns the Q6600.

And The Q9450 is the better CPU, and the 12MB L2 Cache it has is nice.

I live in soCal and it gets pretty hot where I live I plan on OC on air for now, I'm prolly gonna stick with a 45nm technology because it doesn't run as hot as 65nm, I could prolly reach 3.6ghz on a q9450 with low temps, i'm gonna prolly just wait to get it at the same time i get my 4870x2 when they come out

The Q9450 is a great choice! But fyi, 45nm's dont run THAT much cooler.. I went from a E2200 to a E7200 and the E7200 does OC a hella lot higher but it runs about the same temps as my E2200 with the same volts.
