Okay on my hunt for a new monitor i have narrowed it down to 5:

LG W2252TQ 22" (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142909/show_product_specifications?spectype=extended) - £186.51
Samsung SM223BW 21.6" (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132860/show_product_specifications?spectype=extended) - £164.49
Samsung T200 20" (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143283) -£185
LG M208WA 20" (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/134743/show_product_specifications#specifications) - £176.29
Samsung 19in SM932MW (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5293245/c_1/1|category_root|Sound+and+vision|9555142/c_2/2|cat_9555142|Televisions|9555309.htm) - £179.99

I just can't decide on which one. You may think it's strange to have a TV in there as well but its got a PC input so you can easily change the source. Ah decisions!!!

What do you guys think on the matter? Anything amazing/very wrong with any of them??

advice is needed!

Thanks

I'd pick the second one in your list. Sensibly priced, good viewing area.

I too like the second one...

hmm you see i really love the third one the T200 but its expensive even after a £15.00 rebate. actually i should change the price on that one.

Apart from the viewing area and the fact it cost less, does anything scream out at you to get it over the others?

You like the third one? Or you could buy one that's 1.6" bigger and SAVE money...
I like it cause it's cheapest and second biggest out of your list.

Yea i know, i know i should get the cheaper and bigger one, but the third one, man it just has style. Ah stupid marketing.

But then the LG isn't much more and that even bigger! Do you see my predicament?

The third one is a bit too fruity to my taste. It looks similar to the Samsung Bordeaux HDTV at my parents' place...too fruity.

the first third on the list for gaming, has good response time might get a good panel.

If you got a 360 or PS3 or plan to have one the TV is not such a bad idea. I've seen one similar only smaller, basically it's just a normal monitor with some added parts. It works just as any of the others. But if you ask me all LCD's are ugly. I just can't stand them, even now if I had the cash I would buy a Sony Trinitron 24" wide screen. That's the best computer monitor ever made.

Go with the second one man great price and Samsung make good monitors.

5ms too much? are you serious?
my viewsonic is 5ms and there is virtually no ghosting. hell my CRT ghosted as much as this thing does

CRT don't have ghosting! the response can't be changed but it can be fooled by good color

They're not supposed to, but I could still see the images of some things in game. The silo icons in BF2142 were a great example, I could see "ghosts" of them following very close behind.

With 5ms I notice a little bit of ghosting but only on very small objects, ala BF2142 silo icon.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ljRCxlf0njk this video speaks for it self for people that don't know what ghosting is. it's unacceptable in first person shooters.

for people that wear glasses know what i'm talking about, when you tilt your glasses down so you have 50% blurry 50% clear and look straight ahead you get that "double image" that's what it's like when some guy is coming around the corner really fast you will have to learn to sync up your fire more accurately :p

my desk is small though, and so a big monitor will mean eye strain. i was going to settle for 19-20" but thought i'd post the 22" incase it was something amazing that i failed to see.

If ur worried about size then get the second one i really dont think the 5ms is gonna be a big deal man imho.

WhiteLotus
06-23-2008, 05:36 PM
yea i know, i mean if you can tell the difference between 2 and 5ms then more power to you, just when i saw the T200 i just knew i wanted it but it was expensive, only after this £15 rebate has it come into the contest - if it wasn't for that i would have got the LG or the second one.

And i plan to go dual screen as well, purely for the fun of it - just to see what it's like so looks like i'll be modding my desk a bit to get my computer in the cupboard lol

try and get a Samsung Syncmaster if you can - gorgeous things, i love mine, plus they double up as a very good HD TV. Cant go wrong with that haha. Or the second one on your list, i just love samsungs build quality and the likes. Samsung optical drive, samsung monitor, samsung hdd arriving tomorrow - gosh im sad
