Just a tought....

How do you physicaly make the difference between X2 regular and X2 Black Edition?

Is it the BOX, is it the Markings, Serial??? BIOS?

Is it supposed to be in a black box?

Seen pictures of it in a mate black box...

Im thinking i got the regular version instead of a Black Edition one... how can i check that?

any help is welcome...

Black edition has unlocked multiplier and from what i know, they comes without box cooler, but i'm not sure about it.

The Black Edition processors have an unlocked multiplier. Check your bios under cpu multiplier, if it's a BE, you should be able to raise the multi to the speed you want.

gonna check on that and post back.... tnx

oh and one more thing... what would be a default FSB/Multiplier setting for a 6400+ proc?

default is 16.

Don't think you can go higher multi on the 6400 black, I might be wrong.

Just checked it in BIOS.... max settings for the CPU are 200x16 = 3200..... is it possible that i got the regular version instead of BE?
I mean FSB can go over 200 OFC but Multiplier can go as far as 16x...

If you can't set higher than 16, then it's reguler 6400 ;)

Damn.... is there any other way that i can confirm this?
I mean i can't just go rampaging on the salesman if im not 100% sure its not BE...

How bout you BE users out there.... what's your max multiplier you can set in BIOS?

Hmmm just checked the review of an 6400+ BE, and i can see that my proc (using the CPU-Z) has the same profile as the reviewd BE...

Family: F
Ext. Family: F
Model: 3
Ext. Model: 43
Stepping: 3
Revision: JH-F3

Is it possible that that from 2 CPU's from the same stepping and revision, one of them to be BE and another not?

the +6400 BE multi IS LOCKED and cannot go above 16
