Browsing newegg and came across this, besides the stupid pricetag, it says it has "Dual 9800GT's in SLI"
Where did that come from? it just an OEM thing then.

I spotted this a few days ago:
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=64481
More information can be found there. Basically it is a 8800GT with 3-way SLI support.
This was actually in a News post here back in Febuarary. http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=53051
The price of the Blackbird isn't actually TOO badly price for a pre-built. Building it myself from newegg including the 24" monitor but using 8800GTs since the 9800GT isn't out yet it comes out to about $2100 without the liquid cooling, and from what I see the liquid cooling would cost about another $100-150. So $2200 to $2300 totaly if I built it myself. $3300 might seems like a lot, but in the world of pre-builts it is actually pretty decent for what you are getting. I'd probably consider it if I didn't want to build my own.

Thats interesting, then why doesnt that system have TRI-SLI 9800GTs?

who knows?

because they don't scale that well :D maybe they're actually considering value with this setup....

maybe they don't have an odd number stock of the cards or maybe they have a higher end model.

Probably because they are trying to keep the comp as reasonable as possible. 3way SLI is not the best value but I bet the 9800GTs scale better than the 9800GTXs (3way works better with lower end cards just like 2 way sli does)
The cool part is if the 260s are about $250 and the 9800GTXs are about $174 than the 9800GTs should be around the price of the 8800GTs.
The 9800GTs should have the 55nm core (cooler running less power needed) and should be out around July 16th I think.

no way to tell if you get the 65nm or 55nm 9800GT. you could be paying $150 for a rebranded 8800GT will be no "+" to differentiate.

Thanks for keeping me in check Christine... I have been going over hundreds of reviews and talking to lots of mfg. and I am so freakin confused.
I was thinking of the 9800GTX+ for 55nm and the release date. I have no clue about what nm the 9800GTs are.

All the 9800GTs will use the same core. It hasn't been determined if they will be G92(65nm) or G92b(55nm), however rumor has it that they will be 55nm.
The way you can tell that you aren't getting a rebanded 8800GT is the extra SLI finger. :)

Associate reported information about the frequency characteristics of video cards GeForce 9800 GT. Using 65 nm or 55 nm technical process, these video card will operate at frequencies 600/1500/1800 MHz. Vcore will be equal to 1.05-1.1 v. (The 55 nm version will contain the symbols G 92-280-B1/H).

that doesn't look like Tri-SLI to me. truth is I read an article (http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/Nvidia_To_Go_55nm_&_65nm_For_GeForce_9800_GT/5746.html) a couple months ago. I guess Wiz can solve the GPU-Z issue after all :p

I know, I've read the articles too. However, they are all months old, and things have changed drastically. Nvidia no longer has to worry about poor yeilds in the 55nm process since they have had several months to produce 55nm parts, and are now in full production with the 9800GTX+.
I'm sure there will be a few rebranded 8800GT 9800GTs floating around from months ago when the card was in pre-production, but none of those should hit the market. The 9800GT that hits the market should all be either 65nm or 55nm, I'm not sure which yet, and they should all be Tri-SLI.
And XFX never likes to follow nVidia's references either, like putting 800MHz RAM on their 8800GS, so I don't really take anything I see come out from them as the standard.

Ugh i had XFX fan designs, most there cards are like those... there virutally no diference between that and 8800GT/8800GS etc. they all look the same, i like EVGA atleast they offer Dual slot cooling solutions

Sometimes they offer dual slot cooling solutions. They didn't offer a dual slot solution for the 8800GS, which is why I stepped up to the 9600GSO.

I think hes whining about the 2 pin fan. I love XFX cards they are great single slot solutions nice cooler and aluminum plate.
