Just upgraded now what?

alright so I had a amd 4600+ x2 with the m2n32sli deluxe asus board with an 8800 gtx. Now I just upgraded to an evga 790 ultra, bfgtech gtx 280 ocx and corsair 2000 mhz 2x1gb kit and a thermalright true black 120. Ok so heres my question, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a bsod when I boot and I was thinking should I just repair the installation of vista or should I just completely re install the OS on a seperate partition. I still have some things in the vista installation that I want to keep but I've been hearing of all sorts of data corruption issues with the 790 boards, so should I just get another HD to install vista, repartition another section on the HD for another vista install or what?:confused:

Boot into safe mode, clear all your drivers off with Driver Cleaner Pro, start again.

Probably will need to reinstall, it is Vista after all. But that will allow you to get into Vista and get your stuff off at least.

I've always been advised to do a reformat anytime you do a major hardware change, ie. cpu or motherboard. You might have to get a small cheap HD to put your OS on and set your current HD as a slave drive to save your files.

When you do a mobo or cpu update, windows will not work right. IE I did a upgrade from a Athlon XP to a P4 (not really an upgrade but whatever) and basically, windows did not boot, as it detected the wrong drivers for AMD vs Intel, so I had to reinstall. Just reinstall. I usually make a small partition (like 20gb) for all my files I need, such as pictures, game saves, etc. Then I can reinstall on the other 230gb partition, and just copy and paste my files over.

Vista is not as nimble as XP when it comes to hardware changes. Especially if the SATA controllers are different on the motherboards. Save yourself the trouble and just do a clean install. I would suggest saving all your files that you need to a slave drive, wipe the main drive, and reinstall on that. Installing on top of an old OS wastes enormous amounts of space.

finally got the ram and put it all together and nothing is wrong, no bsod no crashing nothing :toast:. Just installed all the drivers and I'm good to go sweet:rockout:, only problem now is that I can't use my 2000mhz ram at 2000mhz, I enable EPP 2.0 and then it wont let me boot, also I dont have the option to change the CPU FSB ....:confused:

Updated Bios but still having video drop, after putting two and two together...I need a bigger power supply, still gotta find that dam cpu clock thing lol

so I got everything put together, updated the bios on the 790 ultra and it's been running alright, now today I go to boot the comp and it wont post and the "CPU HOT" light is on, I've reset the CMOS and still wont boot. I've also reseated the Heatsink and re applied the thermal paste and same issue. I'm all out of ideas....:confused:
