Should I stick with 177.19, or should I install 177.41? I was under the assumption that it's only for the gtx 2xx series. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forget to specify it's the 9600gt :)

From what I've seen people are getting the most performance with the 177.35 drivers with the modded .inf.
I do feel it's important to let you know that none of the drivers past 177.26 worked correctly for me. I couldn't set SLi and I couldn't set CUDA to work.

Ah. I'm guessing it matters that I am running single card only?

It will probably make a giant difference, but there's not any harm in trying out the newer drivers and seeing which ones work best for you. If you find one you don't like you can always go back to 177.19

Where are you guys getting these drivers? Nvidia and evga websites are both posting 175.14. I have 174.74 drivers. Does upgrading really benefit?

select the GTX200 series for your drivers, then depending on which drivers you have go here (http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=62762) to download the modded infs Palgams is the guy who posted them, make sure you download the right ones for your OS and drivers.

Says it can't detect my hardware when I try to install 177.41 ;( Also, if I do get a version that works, how would/should I go about uninstalling the 177?

The 177.41 drivers have to be modified in order to work with the earlier cards.
Vista x64 or x86?

Driver download:
177.41 Vista 32 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_177.41_whql.html)
177.41 Vista 64 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_177.41_whql.html)
177.39 Vista 32 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_177.39_beta.html)
177.39 Vista 64 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_177.39_beta.html)
177.35 Vista 32 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_177.35_whql.html)
177.35 Vista 64 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_177.35_whql.html)

Choose the one you want/need and install as always. When it says "There's no supported hardware y0", close installation. Check my sig for modded *.inf for driver version you DL'ed. Now go to C:\NVIDIA\WinVista\177.**\ and extract modded *inf here. It will ask if you want to overwrite, say yes. Run setup.exe from the same folder and it must work ;)
It's better to uninstall old drivers, run Driver Cleaner and then install new ones. :)

Is there much of a performance increase?

The 177.39 drivers and the 177.41 are the best ones. Ive tried both I didn't see much a difference in performance.
