Hey
I'm thinking about building a cheap and efficient PC to basically download stuff. I've signed up to Direct2Drive (http://www.direct2drive.com/) so Im gonna be downloading games/movies ect all night.

I'm thinking about this specc:

OCZ 512MB DDR2 667MHz
MSI K9N6SGM-V GeForce 6100 onboard VGA
EV Black/Silver MATX Cube Case (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135582)
Antec EarthWatts 380W 80%+ Efficiency PSU
Maxtor 250GB HDD
LiteOn DH-16D3P 16x48 DVD-Rom Black Bare Drive
AMD Sempron LE-1100

I'm using a retail version of XP so thats not a prob.

Price: £155.52

Any advice on any cheaper/efficient hardware?

Spend $20 more and get a WD GP 500GB (http://http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136149).

Get a VIA MB+CPU+VGA+AUDIO combo, which will be the most efficient option.

Get some cheap DDR2 RAM, because you can always time it low.

Have you considered building out of old spare parts. You'll be doing your bit for the environment twice by re-cycling as well as low power. I have a P3 system that draws only 24 Watts.

I got the CPU off ebay for £1.99
