Now I am building my first Intel/ATI computer. And I have a budget that really cant exceed $2100. This is what I have so far and I think that it is good enough for gaming. Now I am planning on in the future getting 2 4870 X2.

Bro, that's a good set up for crossfire... I really like the DFI board.. Can't wait to need another one so I can go back with DFI! Pretty nice my man. :toast:

BTW: what monitor?

Maybe consider a Quad Core espically if you are planning to upgrade to 2x4870x2's. But other than that it looks good.

Very nice setup... If you are planning on OCing the processor high I would get some faster memory. Say like DDR2-9200 or 9600

edit: just seen the MB takes DDR2-6400...

if u could wait for better cooled 4870's that would be good . those 2 HD4870's will run very hot, and with fan fix run loud .

Also the 4870x2 will just fit in that case. I can't imagine what two of them would look like in there but the board is perfect for them.

Thanks!:D

Well that wont be a problem really.
I will use my 19"w until I buy a 24"w, but Im not going to include that into the price I am more concerned about upgrading to 4870X2's than getting a new monitor.

Or I might get bigger than 24" because I use 2 of them at work and I really don't care for the size.

Why would you get two 4870's? It costs more than a 4870X2..

Well what will be the prices of the 4870 X2?
I will get the 4870, and when the X2 comes out, sell the 4870's and get 2 X2's.

The x2 is supposed to be ~$499-$549. At 19" there's no way you will need 2 4870s, 1 would be more than enough. I would get one now and when you move to 24" pick up another or sell it for an x2. Unless your doing this for benching too, I automatically assume gaming first, but if your wanting to put up some bench scores then sure.

Apparently the 4870x2 will be $559, You could buy a X48 board with 3xPCI-E then run Quad CrossfireX with a 4870x2 and 2x 4870.

it's kinda hard to overclock that board but it's still reliable duel cmos setup is awesome. and you can store your settings on the backup cmos
