Aye! Shadowfold picked a winner for a mobo! There is no better processor in that price range. You should probablly decide on the motherboard before you choose RAM, just to make sure the ram you're getting works well with the board.

What is the difference between ICH10 & 10R? What about RAID on the BIOSTAR?
Why would you want 800 over 1066? Plus the 800 is more expensive...

I think the difference is different levels of RAID, but someone else will have to clarify.

He probably got the tracers when they were $20 after MIR. Also, I would still want the tracers, rated for a lower dram speed but also rated for tighter timings.

Hmm...how high can the Tracers get? IDK about me and RAID. I've never done it before & am yet to do it with my RAPTORS...

Best persons to PM that I could think off the top of my head would be either nflesher87 or Cold Storm regarding the tracers. Highest I have seen was 1200mhz, but forget where.
RAID can be good but can be bad.

My 1066 kit does 1066 :p I havent really OC'd them but I will see if the 800mhz can do 1066 at 2.2v.

What about RAID on the BioStar? & OCing? I've had bad experiences with BioStar and OCing...

Been looking at these: OCZ RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227159)
So, BioStar is better than MSI now?

That ram looks good but Crucial just released some sweet new ram that looks really good.

And a few people at TPU including me have this board and its been great,

You can get KET's modded bios's which are really good.

What does that RAM get to? 1200?

Go with this for ram:

P5Q Pro rocks. Like I said before its a great overclocker and kets modded bios's rock.
I still say this ram

Does 1066mhz @ 5-5-5-15 using only 2v!!

Those are some pretty impressive numbers, my friend.
Do they get over 1066?
ShadowFold
07-30-2008, 02:10 PM
No idea they are very new.

Oh, well I would assume so.

I've had g.skill for awhile now and they are pretty good. That ram will run 1066 @ 2.1v. If you want to do something nuts, I just built a rig for a friend with this ram on a P5Q:

It's pretty sweet, stays very cool, and oc's great.

If you have a good, more modern chipset VERY possible.
Franklinwallbrown
07-30-2008, 03:02 PM
How do you know if they are new?
robertc
07-30-2008, 03:11 PM
Intel's P45 chipset is pretty new and can handle overclocking like a champ. Also, a little pricier, but the X48 chipset is pretty sweet, too.

I was talking about the RAM.

07-30-2008, 03:45 PM
i'd go for a 2x2gig setup on the memory, it's better for overclocking and keeps the option to add more later.
Franklinwallbrown
07-30-2008, 03:47 PM
True...& I was looking at a review and a 4x1gb & 2x2gb setup are comparable speed wise.
robertc
07-30-2008, 05:37 PM
Ah, sry. In that case, go w/ 2x2gb. Leaves room for the future and better/easier to OC 2x2gb instead of 4x1gb

The Gskill (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166) has an award and the dominators (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145197) are a tad more expensive. Which is better for OCing?
Where are KET's BIOS? (NVM, found them) So, he has a 422FSB. How good is that? Why is everyone using his BIOS?

way wrong much easier to oc 4x1GB than 2x2GB look at the oc's with each and rethink what you put
Franklinwallbrown
07-30-2008, 06:16 PM
Yeah, that is what I read in an article, but 2x2gb was comparable (according to the article). I don't think I would need more than 4gb. So, does that mean that the Crucial is better? What is the difference between Ballistix and Tracers?
