Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this!

Story: I need to make an entry level PC for someone (office use) and wanted to take this opportunity to upgrade my mobo. (swap new mobo with current mobo, and build the entry level system from the older board).

I'm looking into a good overclocking board that does OCing out of the box, and can take 4GB ram, so I can get the most of my E6420.

Current specs

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2 + 2x 1GB 667MHZ Kingston
CPU: C2D E6420
Hard drive: Western Digital 640GB
Graphic card: XFX 8800GT 512MB
Soundcard: PCI Creative Extreme Gamer
Power supply: Thermaltake toughpower 750W

OS: Vista ultimate

Also, will stock cooling do? I'm OCing the 6420 at 2.44Ghz now (from 2.1Ghz) but I'm not sure if the stock cooler will hold at 3Ghz.

I think that this MOBO should be enough if youre in a budget: GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128337)

And if youre OCing you should get another cooler, I probably will get this one today for my E8400: ZALMAN 9700 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019) with sum thermal paste.

Good Luck :D

I second the mobo works great and oc quite well. (for duals that is)

The MSI P35 Neo2 is a great budget overclocker http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130098, it can easily reach 550+ FSB http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=161618. I'm running mine at 486FSb 24/7 and when I get my e8400 I'm gonna be running it at 500FSB 24/7 :)

Here's an open box one for dirt cheap: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130098R

^Yep, good advice above! Also, as Farid stated, if you are going to OC, definitely consider another cooler.....:toast:

I live in asia (Singapore) so I probably can't order from newegg, but it's really useful as reference.

I'm gonna get the ZEROtherm Nirvana, because it's almost 3 times cheaper than zalman fans here.

Hmm.. torn between the GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L and MSI P35 Neo2 >_<
