Gigabyte 9550 to flash with gigabyte bios

Hi I have a quick question,

I just bought a GIGABYTE GV-R955128D Radeon 9550 128MB

and I was reading that you cant flash gigabyte cards with not gigabyte bios, but I was wondering if I could flash it with gigabyte 9600 bios its the same manufactere bios would that work ? I just want to save myself hastle of reflashing the card 300x.

I was thinking this bios

U should try Gecube 9600XT, i use it and it work well, the best in all BIOS i try.

Well I tried the gigabyte bios and it didnt work so what I did was,

I dumped the bios to the desktop using the ATItool, from the card, then downloaded rabit, opened the bios with rabit (I tested the speeds with ATItool) in rabit I changed the Device ID and the speeds and then used gigabyte @vga bios flashing tool to flash the cards bios. Hope this helps some one out there with the same card. Oh you could of just used the softmode drivers, but I needed the device id to be diffrent for other reasons.
