from what the title says, i bought a new fan for my vga but i dont have any readings in ati tool or Ati tray tools. did i do something wrong? or do you not get reading on aftermarket fans etc.

did you plug it into the pcb on the card or on the mobo? and what kinda card is it?

doubt it since i dont know what that is. the card came with a heatsync and this is my first vga fan. it came with one cord to plug into another couple of plugs (for silent and normal modes) that plug into the P4 PSU cord. so nothing said to plug anything into the mobo.

An Ati 9550XL 256mb.

um, the only one came with the fan and thats the one plugged into the PSU. from what i remmber i cannot see a "little eraser tip" comming from the card or fan. BUT the plugs that came with the card that act as the bridge from the card to the PSU, their are 4 of them, 2 for normal and 2 for silent, could it be that if i plug one in say for normal i plug the other normal into the mobo?

right here the one thats circled if you plug that into a free slot on the mobo(a fan slot) you should get a rpm reading from like mother board monitor etc....you dont get a temp reading because i dont think your card supports it :(

hmm, the thing circled is what i plug into the 4 plugs (on the left of the pic) did i install wrong? since it said that in the manual

Btw where is the mobo plug?

no...well kinda...you can plug that into the motherboard to get power from the mobo but you plug it into that to draw power right from the psu..do the other "extra" wires are they the same as the one i circled? if they are if you plug one of them or thie right one into the mobo(motherboard) it will still draw power from the psu but it should give you and rpm reading as well in bios and any program that can measure rpm's but you didnt need to plug it into that molex connector you only really need to do that if you whant your power form the psu and not the motherboard.

mobo is a.k.a motherboard their should be a place were you can plug that wire i circled into on the mobo assuming one is free.
