artifact scanning on x1000 is still not working properly ..
i checked the scanning and the differences are really there
can anybody confirm that the artifact count/size and frequency is directly proportional to the clocks of the card? gpu clock for me

Nope, ATITool beta 11 works flawlessly on my x800xl. It found artifacts while scanning for max, and found the same maximum that beta 10 did.
The profiles work great
Artifact scanning works well
I like the new colours on the scroll bars :D
fan control is brill.
So it seems fine for the x800/x850 cards, but it could just be an incompatability with the x1000 series cards perhaps.
Good work :)

Will give it a shot here in 30 min and give you a report back on success with X1800XT
...
Update - decided with this test would uninstall CCC/ATI Drivers, restart, run drivercleaner, installed only 5.12 Drivers, restart again.
Installed ATITool. Set default and ran a "Find Max Core"

What can I do to help? Should I install the 5.13 drivers/CCC?
Also, I unchecked the Properties->Control Clock Speeds and saved the profile but, when reloaded, it was checked again.
Again, thanks for the hard work.

I've the new bios sapphire 700/800.

Hmm, i just had a strange glitch.
I was running the find max on the core of my x800, and ATItool started highlighting artifacts at 452mhz (which is right for that speed) but just carried on increasing the frequency up to 460mhz where it finally picked up on a massive checkerboard artifact, but still didn't lower the clocks anymore than 459mhz, which is too much, and there are still visible artifacts everywhere.
I'm using the new 5.13 cats on a clean installation of xp sp2.

Can't wait to try this version out! W1zz Rocks :rockout:
With B10 I reached a stable OC with my Shappire X1800XL @ 600/700 1.125/2.2/2.0 and get 9250 3DM05
There was no real gain by raising the Vgpu even to 1.2V, max score i got was 9350 3DM05 @ 625/700 but it wasn't stable :(
I'll see if this version does some miracles :toast:

maybe one of the changes you implemented fixed my problem, i get 10MHz more core, rock stable, and no more nvidia problem...
before, with the last beta, it would keep setting my clocks to like... 700/700... and screwing everything up... then idk what happened...
but all is fine now :-D lol...

WTF?
Yea, seriously when I first installed the x1800xt on boot up it use to show the AMI logo in red and white (I think) now it's blue and green??? I thought I put the monitor plug in the wrong dvi so I switch it...still same results. In the bios itself instead of having a gray boarder it's a rainbow of colors now :banghead:. I suspected something fishy with that bios from day 1.
Be that as it may the card runs flawless. The text overall color is much better then before with the x850xt

g'day W1zzard
cheers for the registration help
my issue is this
(background to the actual issue)
i have a sapphire X1800XT
IF i install the 5.12 drivers and CCC, CCC fails to load.
so, to get around this issue i need to install the CCC from 5.11, and the driver from 5.12. therefore i have two different version running simulatiously (one for CCC and one for the Drivers)
(Actual issue)
when i installed Beta 11, CCC open, and after i selected one option (eg turning off AA) CCC would lockup and stop responding.
i have reverted back to beta 10, and CCC owrks again.
not sure if i am the only user with this issue or not.
cheers

Anyone with a X1800XT notice on 1st bootup that shows your bios name (AMI in red) did it change to blue and green for anyone else?
I get this on my X1300 Pro as well. Must be just how these cards are.
Does anybody notice a lot more screen flashing on bootup and when changing clocks with X1000 series cards? More than previous ATi or Nvidia that is?
I've got the problem, I installed ATI Tool v0.25 beta11 and it doesnt monitor neither temperature of my graphic chipset either fan speed. Inside the program there's no tab for temperature and fan control. I've got only such tabs:
- Overclocinkg
- Artifact Scanning
- Gamma Control
- Startup
- 3D-detection
- Miscellaneous
What's wrong with it?
My graphic card is Abit Radeon 9550 XTurbo Guru (RV350) and Im using bios from 9600 series (RV360), so I suppose in both cases ATI Tool should monitor temp & fan speed, but it doesnt.
From log I've got this:
------------------- cut ---------------------------------------------------------------------
2005-12-27 13:39:23 Detected GPU Chip: RV360 (4152), 4 Pipelines, 128 MB
2005-12-27 13:39:23 Temperature monitoring: chip not detected
------------------- cut ---------------------------------------------------------------------
So why ATI Tool doesnt recognize the chip for monitoring temp & fan speed and what chips are supported?
thanks for help

Hey W1zzard,
Great work on your tool. So far it seems like only old scanning method is working for artifact scanning on my Sapphire x1800XL. There is only one thing that is not normal and that is: the 3d View is choppy? As in, I get about 300-400FPS, but its very laggy and its quite noticable. I am running an opteron 170, and if I set the affinity of your program to only one core the laggyness goes away. So I don't know whats happening there, I have the same thing happen in games too (I am using Catalyst 5.13s).
Another thing is when I load the default profile again, it does not reset the voltages to stock, only the clocks.
Also I would like to make suggestions for future versions if I may:
- When I check Adaptive AA in your program, it doesn't register in CCC
- Would it be possible for you to make it so that when I click the Settings button again, it takes me to the window i was looking at last? Changing voltages is a hassle because I have to keep selecting it from the drop down menu everytime I go back to settings (as in, have the program remember which window I was at when I click the back button)
Thanks :)
EDIT: For those with X1800 cards, yes they do not display BIOS boot screens correctly; I get a garbled DFI lanparty logo on mine too so nothing to worry about.
EDIT #2: I fixed the lag. All I had to do was add this registry entry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Throttle]
"PerfEnablePackageIdle"=dword:00000001
Just throw that in notepad and save as .reg then run it if you have a dualcore processor.

Hey W1zz! Damn fine work on the latest version! The artifact scanning seems to be fixed for my cards. Have a fast request for dual cards (crossfire). Would be great to have a switch to click to apply all the settings in ATItool to both video card ID's, clock speeds, voltages, temp monitoring and especially fan speeds. Not sure how temp monitoring would be displayed, I suppose alternating? Or perhaps real small fonts with both being displayed in like a fraction. 48/45 kinda thing, even two slots side by side on the toolbar would be ok for me 8).

Well I tried beta 11. Wanted to use it to monitor my GPU temps while I run some games/benchmarks. Unfortunately it seems that when it sets the 600/700 speed it also applies to 3D applications. If it is loaded 3dmark scores drop at least 500 points, which would be approximate to the 2D clock settings.
Anyone know of a program to log the temps without affecting the clocks?

You can log the temps in the ATItool logfile and then check them when your bench is done. That's what I do...

Wizz,
I have one porblem that came up in 11. When I switch back to my default profile from my OC profile, I get a bunch of distortion on my screen before it normals out. The last time I switched, my x1800xl locked up and I had to hard reboot my machine. I think it's because of the delay you added when changing clocks and voltages. Any way around this???

EDIT #2: I fixed the lag. All I had to do was add this registry entry:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Throttle]
"PerfEnablePackageIdle"=dword:00000001
Just throw that in notepad and save as .reg then run it if you have a dualcore processor.
Can anyone confirm this???

You aren't getting accurate temps. If ATI Tool is running, even in the background, your clocks are still at 600/700.

It's logging temps with the card underclocked to 600/700.
As long as ATI Tool runs in the background the clocks are stuck @ 600/700 even if you are running 3dmark or a game.
This problem affects only the X1800 series.

uh? the changelog specifically states that 2d/3d switching is disabled when using atitool.
if you set your card to 400/400 it will stay at that no matter if you run 2d, 3d, 3d windowed or whatever

Isn't the X1300 Pro compatible with fan speed settings? I cant find any setting for this on my system.
I have tried to get ASUS damn Smart Doctor to work a couple of hours but it won't work how much I try. It says that it can identify the card even though I'm using both the ASUS driver and enhanced driver. If someone has a solution to this problem also I would be VERY grateful. :)

I have my doubts that this is working properly, at least over here anyway. Allow me to explain.
With ATI Tool closed and with no overdrive or any other software running I get a score of right around 9000.
With ATI Tool running that score drops down to 8600. This drop in score is about what I would expect if the benchmark were running with clocks set to 2D speeds.
Pretty interesting correlation there, isn't it?

Hi all,
Finally got the X1800XT:D.
Iwas wondering if it would matter if Im using stock 5.11 drivers or not. Wont these give me any OC limitations? Atitool stays whole the time at 600/700Mhz, I assume these are 2D/'pre' 3D clocks? I read the topic, but Im not 100% sure. If I set new speeds, are the speeds 3D/'pre' 3D or 2D? Or isnt there a difference any more?
[EDIT]
There is a little problem when searching for max core. The screen starts flickering, but no artifacts detected, whats up with that? It doesnt matter what speed the core is, the screen is flickering. When scanning for artifacts the problem isnt there .

no its not the voltage , if u will notice everytime it steps up the core frequency when runnign FIND MAX CORE , the screen flickers when it changes the frequency another step up , and also u will notice the screen flickers while loading windows from a fresh boot , this is normal with the x1800xt cards as a lot of people are experiencing this ! Ok, thx!
Also I couldnt resist playing with Voltage . Memory is doing at stock Voltage 815Mhz, but I just set 800Mhz to be 110% sure. Core is doing minimal 700Mhz at 1.45V. Not stable at 750Mhz with 1,7V (Although 'read' sais it's 1,75V?).
Playing around with fan settings too, at 65C already using 100%, its damn loud . Might get a Zalman cooler soon I guess.
Anyone know what max temps are for the GPU, GDDR3 and the VRM? And Ampere is horrible, almost 40, is that normal?
Thx in advance!

I've been trying this for the past day or so, found a few things I'll pass on:
-Still kinda buggy when scanning for artifacts on my 6600gt. Sometimes it runs great, sometimes it doesn't
-Doesn't always change the setting when I move the slider. Sometimes I have to save the change first, then hit enter in the text box.
-Won't allow me to minimize ATITool to the tray?
Suggestions:
-Any way to get MBM temp monitoring to run without having ATI running?
-Find max core/mem otion to select which pair of sliders (ie: 3D perf only, not 3D reg and 2D)
-Maybe disable the "ati2mtag.sys" not found when it detects an nVidia card?
Still so much better than doing it manually using coolbits...

Why do you want to change back?
I'd rather not leave my gfx card voltage at 1.45v in 2D. The point is that it should use lower clocks + lower voltage in 2D then when changing to 3D switch to higher voltage (thus enabling higher clocks). To some extent "overdrive" already does this - BUT the memory only goes up to 800mhz and u cant go higher then 1.45v.

Windows XP SP2 is required on computers that have multiple CPUs that support ACPI processor performance states. This requirement includes computers that support the following items:
• Multiple physical sockets
• Multiple-core designs
• Multiple logical threads, such as Intel hyper-threading technology
Because Windows XP was not originally designed to support performance states on multiprocessor configurations, changes are required to correctly realize this support on multiprocessor systems. Windows XP Service Pack 2 includes the required changes to the kernel power manager. These changes make sure that Windows XP correctly functions on multiprocessor systems with processor performance states. (from the link hotfix site)

I tried the Sapphire bios but reverted to the original. With my card it's no use to try and clock it too far becase it artifacts/locks once you go past 625/750. Yes, I know others have had more success but I consider success as running BF2 for hours and 3DMark05 repeatedly and, as per some OC sites, running the PC in it's state over Prime95 for 8 hours.
The overdrive settings from CCC do not work - period!. My card artifacts (checkerboard) after about 2 mintues with those settings in BF2 and, if you don't slow it down, will lock up shortly after that. The rest of my system is stable so it has to be the card.
If it's about trying to get some benchmark then you might get away with big OC's but you will have your cooling fan maxed out and, maybe, you will be shortening the life of the card.
I'd like to see more technical information on the card though since I dropped nearly $600US on the dang thing.

There is more to it then that. It appears that we may have been boned. If I am reading this correctly it appears that the Asus and Sapphire added an additional mosfet to the x1800xt because it was not a stable oc'r using 5 mosfets. Therefore in order to oc the x1800xt to 700/800 you need 6 mosfets not 5. If I were you I start counting mosfets. Myabe this will explain why the bios logo changes color...So we now have a new revision to the PCB one is .109-A52031-10 PCB and the other is 109-A52031-20 PCB. From reading here and there everyone is have problems just trying to oc the core to 650, etc. If I am correct it may be possible to only use 5 mosfets if someone modd'd mosfet heastsinks???? Fellow OC'ers I like run this theory by you. It maybe pratical for you to buy some copper heatsinks and place them on the 5/6 mosfets. If this photo of the x1900xt is correct it uses *7* mosfets and in theory makes a whole lot of since if you want a more stable higher mhz video card. Therefore it is my opinion that the x1800xt should have received 7 mosfets instead of the 5/6 that where used. Here is the link count how many mosfets are on the x1900xt. It may need 8 instead of 7...I think you are getting the idea now. *Put some heatsinks on those mosfets***. Now if I could only find 1 long then copper heatsink similar to the read aluminum on used in this photo I would be set for life!

ATI tool works just fine, use it to get what ever oc i can but I mostly run it at default settings. I'm wanting to try the Saphire bios but if it won't handle a small oc I see no point in trying, unless it slows the memory timings down, which would allow a higher oc?

I'm glad you posted...In any case I believe the key here is keeping those mosfets cool. Since ATI didn't properly install the proper number of mosfets or at least the proper mosfet period.
My theory is quiet simple find a way to cool your mosfets..as they should be Heat sinked and you should be able to OC better. Again, this is just a theory...but it can't hurt...
Also note that the Zalman is not up to snuff someone else I know is using it and they are not getting the kind of temps they want.. I suggest using the original HSF as it has a beefier copper core.. just my 2 cents worth..
Hi Again,
Well I installed some getto heat sinks on the mosfets: artic silver 5 and staples. I will be getting quality ones tomorrow, stores all closed here now.
Yes I agree about the zalman, temps get to around 65*C and I think this is too hot. Was about the same with the ati heat sink. Any way I set my oc to the highest i could run some what stable, 630/760 and ran ati tools scan for artifacts for 5 minutes. No problems, then set it to 635/765. Again ran for 5 minutes, no problems. Set to 640/770 ran for 2 minutes and started to show very bad artifacts, I caught it in time before the hard lock and set clocks do to 635/765.
It ran cs source video test and before at these settings, the game wouldn't even load. I think you are on the right track with the cooling of the mosfets and I am going to give the ati heat sink another try. Using some artic silver and fan on high should work.
Oh yes I raised the volts, VPU is at 1.300 MVDDC is at 2.102 and MVDDQ is at 2.102. Not sure how high I can raise volts.

Good glad to hear it's working I figured this much. An epoxy thermal compound is the best permanent solution so you may want to consider it. Also note that copper can handle the higher temps from mosfets then with aluminum. Mosfets yield much higher spikes in heat then the gpu. Check out the site I linked a few posts ago. However, do what you can.
The key here appears to be that ATI did not use the proper mosfet so you will need to keep what you have cooled down. It's better to use a heatsink then keep it open ended because air flow creates more heat instead of dissipating heat from the mosfet. Therefore a catalyst is needed, in this case a heatsink to help direct the heat then use wind to move it out the way.
Here is a site that may offer something you can use

Hmmm I'm not sure cooling the mofsets is gonna get you a more stable frame rate, that might just be a coincidence. Have u tried clocking it higher? Incidentally u can measure voltage regulator temperature in Riva Tools, mines reporting up to 70 degrees C after a quick burst of Need for speed:most wanted.

Might try to make a special frame so its closer to the MOSFETs and have it placed higher so it has enough air to move. I cant do much at the moment (I broke my arm :banghead:. I installed the card with one hand :)).
Anyway I just started my PC, when in Windows my PC started to act weird . I ran Atitool, mh HDD was loading pretty much IMO and then Atitool screen messed up. And than my whole screen turned into grey!?. Same grey as i.e. Windows startmenu etc. I only could reset the PC, and it happened again. I went into safe mode and prevented Atitool from starting, problem is gone. What to do with this?

Not sure how many MOSFETs I have but I do know that I have to manually set the fan to 60% duty cycle (using RivaTuner - sorry, the ATITool still tries to control frequency even when I uncheck the box in the profile) in order to play 3D game (BF2). I found that I would be playing at a mild overclock and, when I first started artifacting, I would Alt-Tab out, run the fan up to 60%, and go back into the game and all the artifacts would go away after a screen redraw.
The artifact behavior of this card is very different from my X800XL where it would get the expected yellow specks while doing "Find Max" in ATITool. This card goes to a checkerboard pattern.
Would be interested in seeing if anyone has watercooled this stuff.
And, by the way, this is a forum for ATITool and I believe we are diverging from it's purpose. Maybe this thread should be moved somewhere else as it is distracting?

how do I get ATI tool to look like this? Although this is beta 10, mine will only show the core and memory.
I have not found any option to show 2d and 3d so how do I fix this?
Here is how mine looks

Everyone's beta11 looks like that (not sure about other cards than X1k). /but its because W1zzard dont know yet how to make us set different settings for 2D and 3D, so we only can set 3D ;). Hopefully that will be fixed soon because I think its not all that good for the VGA to run it continu at 3D speed/Volt. But atm its not yet able. Keep on going W1z! Just thought I'd let you know that beta 11 is working on my setup. I know it works on most, but, with the bugs you're seeing, I thought maybe it can't hurt to let you know of yet another case where it's working. In case they are at all useful, here are my system specs:
VisionTek rebrand of ATI X850XT PE AGP (same card as nearly as I can tell with their logo stamped on it and nothing else changed I can see)
EPoX 9NDA3J+ (nForce 3 Ultra) - FSB @ 252MHz, 4xHTT (1008MHz)
San Diego 3700+, 10x multiplier (2520MHz)
ATI Catalyst 5.13
nVidia chipset drivers 5.11
Windows XP SP2
Probably all worthless to you, but, just in case some little tidbit in there helps, there it is.

That just proves that the 2D/3D switch (ati2evxx.exe) is really disabled when ATITool is used.
When ATITool is not running the 2D/3D switch works and adjusts card to 3D speed (621/747 default) for the 3DMark run = around 9000
When ATITool is started the 2D/3D switch is disabled and the card won't enter 3D mode. Card runs at 2D clocks (594/693) = around 8600
So the clocks you see in ATI Tool are the clocks that will be used for 3D operation too.

Are you saying that for now it's mandatory to enable 3d detection for ATI Tool or else you are only OC in 2d mode?

01-02-2006, 10:13 PM
No, whatever speed u set in ATI tool will be the same in both 2D and 3D, i.e. like you would have with a normal (pre x1800 series) gfx card. Of course you can use the "3D detection" mode in ATI tool, in which case it will act as CCC does and change to higher voltage/clocks once 3D is detected, BUT so far many of us (all??) are finding it crashes when changing back from 3D->2D.

The clock you set with ATI Tool Beta 11 will be the same for both 2D and 3D operation. Basically there is no separate 2D and 3D mode after you disable the 2d/3d switch.

Do you maybe know if its bad for the card if its whole the time at 3D settings? Or did they implented this technology for power saving or something like that? (taking a look on the original fan settings doesnt make me believe they implented the 2D/3D switch for the temps, but maybe for noise levels?)

We are just having a long discussion about temp vs. lifespan of CPUs in the hardware forum, the general consensus is you're going to replace it before it breaks pretty much regardless of how hot you run it.
I think they implemented it mostly to keep noise levels down, the stock coolers from ATI can be really noisy and I bet a lot of people have complainted to them.

The zalman itself is technically better, but, it exausts the heat back into the case, raising chasis temperatures unless you have some serious cooling. In general, it's better to spend the slight amount more for the ati silencer.

OK then I see what was happening earlier and why my benchmark scores were low when ATI Tool was running. So basically I need to set 3D clock speeds in the program and it will simply keep the card from being switched into 2D clocks even when at the desktop. Yes?

A friend and I installed this Zalman on my X1800XT.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118222
Stock cooler idled at 57c in my case. With this Zalman the X1800 idles at 46c. I did not test load temps on the stock cooler so I don't know exactly what they were previously but right now the card tops out at 73-74c @ load. This is w/clocks at 690/800 (overdrive max'd).
The Zalman will keep up and cool just as well as the stock cooler IMO. Will it improve load temps? Perhaps but not by a lot. Still it is significantly quieter than the stock cooler. And it looks better (IMO).
Extremely cramped cases w/bad airflow will probably have worse scores w/the Zalman vs. stock but if you run a case with even moderate airflow I think it will help out.

I wish I had done more testing w/the stock cooler. That said at 100% load (690/800 clocks) I'm getting 73-74c. This much I know. The stock cooler would be annoyingly audible at that temperature. I can barely hear the Zalman.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong here but: when I start ATI Tool it sets 600/700 clocks but you can change that to the 3D clocks you want and it will work. Only "problem" is that 2D clocks are going to be stuck at whatever you set ATI Tool @. Therefore it will run warm, even in 2D.

water is the way to go with these x1800's, im @ 39-41 idle, and only 47-49 load with a basic TT Bigwater SE.
now thats with using TT's water block for the GPU, dangerden has a far superior waterblock now that also cools the memory.
Ive ordered one with a new pump as the TT pumps arent pushing enough flow for my tastes with the new dangerden block also cooling the memory.
one thing is for certain, get some air moving across the cards memory, i have my TT radiator with a 120mm fan blowing directly up at the card, using the built in air grill in the bottom of the case to pull fresh air into the card.
made a nice difference for me.

Artefacts are only visble while finding maximum clocks at the same high clockspeeds as before. (Default GPU @ 324 Mhz, first artefacts @ 413 Mhz)
But atitool didn´t see this artefacts, as in all other versions before. I´m using the "new methode" until launch and did not have any problems before. (The slider for sensitivity is standing in the left position: More artefacts detected/lower clock.)

my question is just regarding the whole 2D/3D switch issue, currently i'm not planning on OC'ing with the Beta11, but what i woudl like to do is use the FAN speed feature. Now if i'm just using the fan speed feature will it still affect the the 2D/3D switch or is that only if i'm using ati tool to overclock, because running in 3D mode will just put unwanted stress on the Card in the long run if using 3D mode 24/7.

one thing you will have to consider when going water cooling , no matter what cooling block you use.....
you will no longer have any type of fan/heatsink, blowing across the memory as you do with the stock cooler....
id advise you to consider the OCZ ram sinks for your card if going water cooling, using a less costly watercooling premade kit.....and then make sure you have some sort of airflow , be it cross flow or directly blowing towards the ram.....
ive just ordered the new DD x1800 series waterblock that cools the gpu, and memory with new DDC 12v pump, and PA 120 x2 rad, with a dual bay res......
ill then use my existing water setup with just the cpu....

I use Ati-Tool to control the VGA fanspeed of my homecinema PC, which should run as noiseless as possible. Have set "Fan Control" to "dynamic based on GPU temperature" and stored in a profile and set it to be loaded on startup (reboot). Works great as long as I don't switch the system into S3 or S4.
Problem: After wakeup from S3/S4, the fan of the VGA runs with 100% (factory setting). I must activate my profile manually for slow down the fan as in "fan control" defined. Have tested with "VPU recover" on and off in ATI's Catalyst Control Center (V5.13 for MCE), but takes no difference. Have also tried to store the fan settings into the default profile of ATI-Tool. No success.
My system: See my "System Specs".
Would be great if the programmers can fix this or give us any hint to solve it.
Btw: This was also in v0.24 I've installed before.

well, that's not ok. In fact, the cold card is already running with 100% fanspeed after restarting the XPC.
I agree, this wasn't from beginning of using this card.
But I can't remember, since when this occured! I did never made a BIOS-update or overclocking the VGA - rather I'am slowed down the fan by recducing GPU and Memory-clock so these chips works cooler and the fan can run slowly. The X700 only must display my video-DVD's so they don't need much performance.
Now I've made an inquiry to sapphire's support regarding this minor issue. Let's see.

...or is there an older version that can do that job for me...beta 10?
Yup, just install beta10 for that ;).

Hello back after a long time :) I just bought 6600GT so i had to leave ATi Tray Tools behind and use your tool. Artifact testing and frequency searching went fine, temeperature is showing.
But i think i found a bug in this beta. "Adaptive AA" option in settings is active but i have NV 6600GT. Unless i can also use Adaptive AA on 6600GT hehe

and you still had the catalyst drivers on your computer .. thats why atitool thought it could enable AAA .. nice find. fixed in next version

Maybe disable the "ati2mtag.sys" not found when it detects an nVidia card?
when does this message come up for you?
Good day to all!
I'm new at this forum. I really want to know does ATI toos support silent instalation?

No, i cleaned ATi drivers with latest Driver Cleaner Pro. I also cannot change FSAA/AF and other stuff like Catalyst Ai,Geometry Instancing and other ATi specific stuff. Just Adaptive AA is still clickable.

Does anybody know why ATI TOOL 0.25 Beta 11 does not allow me to OC a X1800XT with Windows XP Pro x64 Edition?
Thank you in advance :)

Ok i don't get it something:
Load this preset:
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/5672/default3yj.png
Then this one:
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/5480/overclocked9ea.png
And again first one:
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/3741/messedup2lr.png
Also i don't get those Current frequencies. It shows 300/600 as current even though i loaded 560/600. Or does preset just set these clocks which are then managed internally by card itself?
For example i loaded Overclocked preset with values 2D - 300/450 and 3D 500/450 and i'll see current freq. as 300/450 because i'm still in my desktop and 6600GT detects this internally.
When i launch some 3D game ATiTool loads overclocked profile with 2D 300/600 and 3D 560/600. 6600GT internally detects that i'm really running some 3D thing and correctly adjusts the freq. Yet i can't check curent freq. while in game because i can't open ATiTool.
I hope you understand what i mean. Still current freq looks weird if you follow those screenshots and how i loaded profiles. In the end i get different default freq. even though profile should load lower one (300 instead 500).
EDIT:
I see it takes some time to downclock to correct 2D freq. when ATiTool switches to 2D.
wizzard, Their appears to be a problem with ATITool and Webroot Spysweeper. Everytime i try to run a scan whilst using the v0.25 beta11(set to run at startup mainly for fan overide) it locks up the pc when it gets to scanning the process in the memory. Previously up till a few days ago i was still using the v0.24, but i wanted to take advantage of the Adaptive AA setting you have in the latest beta.
What do you think the problem might be, I don't want to stop using it if i can.
Thanks in Advance.

Dare I suggest a delay between VGPU changes on loading/unloading of presets if it's not already implemented?

W1z, something weird with frequencies...
Why does ATiTool first switches to 500MHz (from 575MHz) and then to 300MHz when exiting 3D mode?
Also i get weird GPU clocks reported in the final result dialog in 3DMark06. Once it's 500MHz and sometimes 575MHz (my overclocked GPU freq.). Is this normal?

well i have tried both so far and still no go. i uninstalled ccc altogether and used driver cleaner, then installed atitool .25 beta 11 it reads my core is 594 and my memory is 694. i tried to change the bar but if i even try 625/750 it locks up my pc in(screen turns green)and restarts when i run 3dmark05 i have tried to change the setting many ways and it always restarts my system.
so i uninstalled ati tool altogether and tried a fresh install of ccc 6.1 and unlocked the overdrive. when i pull up ccc my temps say graphics processor requested is 695 but the current is 594. the graphics memory status requested is 792 but the current is 693.
i tried to raise the processor oc bar in ccc and the bar reads 695-5000;
the memory oc bar reads 792-800. if i change the settings and hit apply it doesnt do anything but stay the same. what is going wrong with this i really dont understand. i know my bios .103 flashed well and i even flashed it with another .103 from another site to make sure it was ok. if any of you could help i have a really fast connection and i would give you remote admin if you could help me figure out what is wrong here! please drop me an email if you can help: cheefer420@hotmail.com

Hi,
I run an x800xl in Windows XP Pro x64 Edition.
I only want to run the card in it's overclocked state while 3d mode is active.
So far I've notice ati tool even 0.25b11 does not detect the 3d mode activation when the 3d application is 64bit even when adding the exe to force 3D mode.
It works perfectly with every 32bit 3D application I've run so far, but 64bit ones just don't switch profiles.
Examples : UT 2004 with patch 3369 applied and the 3369 64bit exes
FarCry with 64bit patch applied.
I was wondering if this was a known issue and if there is a planned fix for it.
Thanks,
W1zzard

havent really played much with xp64 .. but it makes sense that only 32-bit works since the detection switch dll is a 32-bit dll which windows probably doesnt load into 64-bit apps

I tried using it and found these problems:
Im using Windows XP64bit, and latest ATi Catalyst drivers
Problem is, I make a gamma profile, all is well and good. Thing is, when I restart or exit and reload ATi tool, the gamma messes up, and everything goes a horrible shade of yellow/green.
I then go into the gamma settings thing, and then it suddenly fixes itself.
I then tried turning off everything to do with gamma, and it still happens
2nd issue is 3d dection with 64bit apps. Be nice when this works :)
