i know u have a duel cpu slot mobo and i think pretty sure you do but do u NEED 2 of the exact same processor or as long as its the same socket type your fine?

Not any athlon socket a cpu will work in a muti-processor mobo, you need an Athlon MP for socket A, or a Opteron socket 940 of the same speed. Not sure if AMD is stepping specific..

Athlon MP are different from Athlon Mobiles, make sure you get that. I think mobiles can be converted to MP's though.

its recommended for best stability and load balancing to use two processors or same stepping and speed,

also, Athlon MP´s are usualy athlon XP´s which have passed high lever quality control,
usualy Normal Athlon XP processors can be modded to athlon MP using conductive paint to seal one of the L5 bridges, dont remember which, you can probobly google Athlon MP mod and find around several million porn sites and a couple of good guides on doing the mod, :D

just one note, the athlon XP to MP mod will work, but around 10-5% of cases some instability occures,

As I said before the server problems, using different steppings is possible though not recommended. On 2cpu.com a guy told me that it would be possible t use different speed Xeons as long as theyre the same procs (the faster CPU would adjust its multiplier and basically be the same proc) though I tried this and I didn't get it to work. Just get a matched pair to be safe.

As for Athlon MP's, I wouldn't. MP chipset is a hell and MPX still isn't a dream come true. Go for Xeons or Optepr0ns.
