what does burn-in mean? sorry, I'm quite a noob

"burn in" refers to the time it takes for the TIM (thermal interface material [thermal paste/grease]) to achive its optimal performance, as this dosent happen instantly.
for example, with arctic silver 5 (the TIM which i use for the CPU and GPU on my machine) it can take a good coupla days, maybe even a week, for it to "burn in" and achive maximum thermal transfer between whatever it is you applied it you and whatever it is your cooling that whatever you applied it to with.
