Ok well i guess ill start by saying i have an Athlon 64 2800+ (with stock cooling). When i first put this in i checked to see what the new 64's temps run at and was amazed to see that it idled at about 25c. Is this normal for the CPU that i have? I have never been able to get CPU's this low on stock cooling so i figured hey what the heck ill just OC it till its up in the 30's. So i OCed it from 1.8GHz to 2.2Ghz and it still idles at about 25c and maximum ive ever seen it get to is just under 40C. So is it possible that the temp sensors are inaccurate? I have no reason to believe that they are inaccurate but i just dont see how i can run it that low with a 400mhz overclock. And while im posting i mind as well ask what is the average amount of OC i can get out of this thing? So far the only thing limiting me is my memory.

Thanks for the info! :D

EDIT: Ok so ive been really messing with my system and have managed to get from 1.8GHz to 2.4Ghz. I have raised the voltage from 1.5 to 1.65 and may go to 1.7 which is the maximum i can go. I still idle at around 25C and load is about 45C. I still find it strange that it hasnt past 50C. Do the temps sound right? they sound kinda low to me but i guess ill wait for an answer. hope i dont burn up anything.

It's weird that your cpu doesn't get hotter even when you oc it because it's not possible that the temps don't rise. Think it this way when you sit you are not overheating your self but when you run you get soaked up of swet.. ;) This is the thing that happens when you oc anything in your comp...

The 2800+ doesn't generate a ton of heat, my 939 3000+ at 2.6GHz was about 40 or 45 at full load but this is with an XP-120.

Temp sensors vary widely from board to board though and I would say yours seems like it's a little on the low side, but you're still well within safe values. On the 1.4V CPUs I have heard that you shouldn't go over 1.6V without water or phase change cooling so with yours defaulting to 1.5 I would watch your temps very closely at 1.7 because they may suddenly start to get high.
