I voted "Yes" !

I think only certain users should be allowed to get them if they are allowed. Where users are rewarded with them for being a good members/helpful, things like that.

Avatars sound good to me, 180x180 or 120x120 with like a 12.5kb limit would be my suggestion on sizes

For dial up, it really isn't that bad. I've got dial up and avatars generally don't slow me down much, just as long as the size is kept resonible.

Minimum post count required, size restrictions and no gaudy gifs that flash and bling and give people seizures, then hell yeah!

Yes, but as most have stated before, there should some restrictions regarding them. At least size limit (resolution and file size) and some user limitation (post number, groups?).

PS. And no ANIMATED GIFs! Or is it possible to parse them off with vBulletin?

Nice to see so many votes for "Yes".

I came up with the idea of having avatars on the TPU forum but W1zzard didn't believe me that the people want avatars so he made this poll and as you can see, most people said "Yes" to the avatar question.

I'm a dial-up user myself and it wouldn't effect me much I can say.

I'm also for the limited avatars.I'd say 80x80 pixels and a 15kb size limit or 100x100 pixels with a 20kb size limit. And allowing only JPG and PNG pictures to avoid the flashy GIF animations.

Also, I'm against the idea of allowing people with high post count to have avatars (or biggers avatars) and the ones with lower post counts not to have avatars (or smaller avatars).

I agree with most of you, avatars would be good as long as they're not animated and kept small... But NEVER include picture sigs please! They make the whole page look crap and it's difficult to read the posts in between all the sigs... ;)

You need to put in the (sigpic) and (/sigpic) tags wherever you want the sigpic in your sig, except with [] where I put ().

Why not, expression is one of the best ways to experience diversity. Limiting size or content is ok and it is to be expected.
But unless you want to be compared to governmental scrutiny, and reward those who you choose to and remove privileges already experienced by many, well expect this to create a negative experience in a forum that I found to be refreshing, informative, that has a lot of variety and opinions and that most are respectful and informative.
So why limit something that is good and fair for all. Change isn't always good.

Well, a forum should bury dead threads then, if they are still listed....WTH....a post is the last thought it created.

So can you say........Jethro Bodine.....

A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Although the poll if closed I would vote yes.
A forum without avatars is a dead forum.
That's why I created this PcPer poll (http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=437826)

Sounds good to me, but I do agree that some are a bit on the wild side and beyond, but expression is a liberty that we all must accept and live with.
So overall I am in agreement with you Polaris573

Do we really need to reopen a 2 year old discussion? If you don't like avatars just disable them.
