let me see if i get this straight....

you fitted an AC silencer on your 9800 pro and now all you get from the display is blackness and your system wont boot?

if that's the case, try putting in a different display adapter (if you can get your hands on one) and seeing if you can get it to boot at least to safe mode that way...
it is possible that during the installation of the silencer you somehow managed to damage your card...

tried new card in mine and comp boots up fine, put 9800 pro in another comp and it does exactly the same as mine did with the 9800 pro in, so i'm thinking that i've fried the card and i should just bin it or does anyone know if it can be repaired

when you installed it, you might have accidentaly cut a track or pulled a leg on a transistor, in which case you can sometimes fix it with some careful soldiering.

same thing happened to me with my old AIW 9800 pro except i just took the cooler off to apply some as5. put it back in and i cant see anything. i take the card to a friends house and it works, so i bring it back to my house and it still doesnt work, after trying different monitors and cables and making sure the card was reseated, it eventually just started working again, puzzles me to this day...
