i have never used an x800gto , but have used a x800gto2 (R480) core , unlocked 16 pipes and OCed , i think is comparable to the x1600 in 3dmark05 score , but the x1600 is smartshader 3.0 compatible , where as none of the older cores of Ati are , so thats an advantage over the x800 series !

I think the X1600XT is better when you buy a one with 256bit ringbus.
if its a 128bit X1600XT, any x800gto should be better.

what u mean by 256bit ring bus?
x1600xt is come with a 128bit memory interface with a 256bit memory ring bus controller right?
with HIS x1600xt ICEQ II is it withthe 256bit ring bus u say?
