Do you think intel will have a 1600mhz FSB (400mhz Quad pumped) EM64T CPU in time for Summer 2006?

I haven't followed intel's recent do-ings so I don't know how fast their technology is progressing..

(I am very bored, and have nothing better to say.. I'm going to upgrade to an Intel 64 CPU about Summer '06, so help is appreciated, even though it's a long way away)

I'm guessing someone like DantheBanjoman (I think it was him, well, whoever the Intel fanboy is.. maybe diGitaL?) will reply with something useful.

Thanks,

Shut up Froz, I know what you're thinking

You cna get a 1600 mhz FSB on an AMD right now in 2004 :p

AMD suck, and I'm upgrading in 2006.. so err.. something... Just post a comment on what's above

The AMD HTT is now 2000mhz, but that's not the CPU to Chipset speed, I would also like to be running at least 800Mhz DDR2 Ram.

I wish that rambus scandal hadnt have happened. Rdram was FAST.

What scandal? I know Intel tried to force it on people, but what scandal? Did it cause men to leave their wives? Randomly explode in your face?

No, the scandal was that memory manufacturers jacked up the prices of their rdram to increase sales of DDR. Their is/was a lawsuit with rambus against some big memory manufactures.

Oh, but I heard the latency was waay high.. My friend keeps going on about his ram being super fast... what was the latency of RD ram anyway?

Also, why is no-one answering my original question?

Me too, although I won't buy one before '06, the prices would no doubt come down a bit by then :D

Prestonias can go up to 250Mhz FSB (www.datamine.tk), so those 2k6 noconas can get to 400 most likely. Gotta love (partly) unlocked MP's on xeons :)

Seems the 1066Mhz P4 is very near already http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=18465

Then again if you have less money, a 2.4c currently goes to over 300Mhz, imagine the slowest model in 1.5 years, I'd say it'll make the 1600Mhz

hmmm, 2.4C over 300 i gotta play with mine some more then :D
it does 250 now but that's nothing...i want to reach the 300 :)

mine runs at 270 normally, can get to 280 with stock cooling and no voltmods or anything
perhaps if i have a decent case for the P4 ill add some casefans and up the voltage to ~1.7V, not sure if my sample gets to 300 on stock cooling :), dont think so :P
I believe wizz had his @ 300+, but hes an asshole

Then i'm going for 300+ on my 2.4C too :D
( i hope the zalman cnps7000-B can handle the heat :p )

my cpu can do 300 fsb but thats with cascade cpu block watercooling, cold water, lots of voltage .. 290 ish is no problem for it day-to-day.. its luck of the draw after all .. i bought a 2.4m0 which couldnt even do 275 fsb

Then i'm gonna pwn you and run it at 300fsb with air :D and i'm gonna try to stick to stock voltage....If i t doesn't work i'll force it to work by modding something i won't give up...
If u don see me here for about more then a month i prolly failed and killed my 2.4C....Wish me luck :D
