ive bought a Saphire X800 GTO2 256mb
it came with 16 pipelines unlocked and an R430 core, ill also mention that i got Thermaltake Giant III (heatpipes) runing on M mode as cooling

i was disapointed at first since i expected the R480 core, i attached a jpeg to my 3rdmark results, including my ATItool OC specs and temp,
33c is idle temp, 55-60c is under load
the blue temp is my CPU, so ignore :) thank you

tell me what you think please. thank you

most of the new GTO2's use a r430 bios but if you remove the heatsink and the core is an r480, you can try an x850 bios, as long as the mem match, 1.6 is what you should have but i would verify visually. Then follow flashing instructions from techpowerup and this should help your score. Remember that as good as your graphics card is your overall system is still gonna limit or enhance your vidcards ability. Also i would try and see what your max overclocks in ATItool is first and if your clocks are good that will better determine which r480 bios you should use. If your core goes above 450mhz your good to go as no real r430 core can clock that high as its an .11 pcb versus the r480's .13 pcb. Make sure that your cards power connector is attached too. That score is actually pretty good my card can't go above 5900+ stock and even overclocked the highest i got was 6700+, but mine is a r423 and the r480's clock higher.

scored 6600 on 3dmark 2005, check the link its an attached photo, this is my initial OC so i will fiddle some more tomorrow, reading Intro to Marketing atm :P

awesome clocks and congrats on your purchase:toast: you could definately could use the x850 xt pe bios but since your card works great with the r430 bios maybe you should leave it alone. Congrats on the 16p, it seems all the newer GTO2's with dual DVI are selling pre modded, while Sapphire did this, Connect3d's GTO, the card I have, went the other way and locked the cards better against modding. This sucks i think because alot of people ended up getting those cards based on the reports of modding. If i had waited a few months i would have gotten the card you have.

its my first upgrade since 6 years man :P
i had the box be shipped pre assembled, so no ASilver5 on the core, thing is i dont have anything to clean the current thermal paste layer which means i have to wait till sunday for the pharmacy to open so id get 95% alcohol, and ill try to mount an extra fan for the ram, then we will see how far this baby can go!

my VGA cooling is http://www.thermaltake.com/coolers/chipset/a1919.htm

Thanks for the appreciation but I got my card early when they just figured out the mod and modded just fine but i have been helping people with newer cards that won't unlock and it sucks to see them disappointed.
