That depends on who you talk to. I just picked up an ATI X1600 512mb AGP card and it's pretty decent, the best part about it is it's shader model 3.0 compatible, and it's a good Over Clocker.
I got it at Best Buy.

:) then u have nvidia's agp solution the 6800gt though im not sure if they have a 7xxx card that is agp..though i think their is a 7800gs that is agp

coming i think but not quite here.. shame anything decent and agp is over priced.. the fastest agp card carries a price premium een thow it aint the fastest card it seems..

I gave $230 for my Radeon X850 PRO. Even though I can't unlock the extra pipelines, its a great overclocker. I can reccomend it.

yes the x850xt pe and the 6800 ultra are the best agp cards available now. We can only hope they give us a few more since from what i hear agp can handle anything out on pci-e right now anyhow ;)

if you want my opinion, the card the offers the base price-performance point right now out there is the 6800GS in AGP.

if you get one of those be sure to get a BFG card. they seem to have the highest chance of unlocking to 16pp/6vs. and they you basically get a 6800GT or even a 6800 ultra if you OC it for like half the price...
and the fact that they stopped making the 6800 GT's and ultra's for AGP for some obscure reason...

7800GS AGP is out if you know where to look. It's still under non-disclosure act until Feb 2nd.

true, but it will probably offer pretty much the same performance as a 6800GS (at least an unlocked one), because it uses that PCI-E to AGP bridge chip that will probably put a hurt on performance...

besides, right now, if you're looking for value for your money the 6800GS AGP is definantly the way to go.

get a 6800GS.
about 220$. 12 pixel pipelines, 5 vertex shaders, 350mhz GPU, 1ghz memory.
some of also unlock to 16 pixel pipelines and 6 vertex shaders.
effectivley giving you a 6800GT.
and with a bit of overclocking you'll get a 6800 ultra.

just be sure to get the BFG ones... those seem to have the best chance (about a 90% possibility from what i've read) of unlocking the extra quad and vertex unit.

IMHO, this is currently the card that offers the best "bang-for-your-buck" point for the AGP market.
