just wondering what my clocked 3700 would carry pr wise..

2.2 = 3700 pr..

2.4 = 4000 pr..

2.6 = 4300 pr..

2.8 (FX57) = 4600 pr..

2.9 = err 4750 pr praps..

not sure if running higher external clocks affects the pr rating.. ???

so can i call it an AMD 64 4750+.. he he he

Personally I think it's stupid when people say for example "3700+ @ 4300+"... AMD's processor naming scheme doesn't work out clear enough to do that.

I'm starting to think most of you guys aren't into computers for fun. Saying you've got a 3700+ at 4600+ is AWESOME! I used to have an Athlon XP 3200+ that I said was at 4000+, how do you not think that's cool? First it's not a real processor so it's my own custom one and people might think it's a "rare" official processor, plus it sounds official and I can buy a case badge that says "Athlon XP 4000+". I don't know, you know you guys, seeing that most of you game you shouldn't even buy anything over an Athlon 64 3000+ or a Pentium 4 2.6ghz, I mean processor speed doesn't really matter with games. And while you're at it, stop overclocking altogether, I mean I assume that overclocking is all in total and utter productivity-increasing and NOT for fun with you guys, so if you think about it overclocks don't really increase productivity unless you've got a really old one or you encode videos or something. Plus if you buy a 3000+ and overclock it to run like a 4000+, you saved $300 and can still call it that. Just like getting to call an Opteron 144 an FX-57, or more officially-sounding, an Opteron 156, which isn't even a real processor but is true to the model numbers. This is turning into my "Intel bad naming scheme?" thread, but it's all in fun and bragging rights you guys.

OH and the best reason is because if an ignorant guy somehow knows what processor is in his computer, like he'll say a "2800" or something (as in an Athlon 2800+), you can say "that's cool, I got a 4000+". Then amazement ensues.

amdcam.. there is a lot of sense in what u say.. my idea of a good gaming machine is cheapo everything except the grfx card..

i also know i cant tell any difference tween running my machine at 2.4 or 2.9.. i know the diference is several hundred dollars price wise.. he he.. i have it there but most of the time dont bother to use it.. so who the hell spends real money to get it.. i recon it is bragging rights even if u brag to yourself.. he he.. if i spent real money to get it i would just feel a fool..

i know i couldnt afford to buy a reasonable l high end machine every year.. so overclocking gets me something i wouldnt otherwise have.. but then again i know i dont really need it and would settle for less. but i would still overclock the less.. he he he

what i dont like to here is when someone is ask who has a half decent machine.. are going to overclock it.. and the answer is.. why overclock an already fast machine.. i know why.. praps thats what makes me an overclocker.. he he
