View Full Version : Thermaltake PurePower Station 520w
Hi
I think everybody would agree with me when i say the 5.25 unit is ugly besides that the whole thing seems quite good. i was wondering if any one has cracked it open to see if theres enough space so that we can do some modding with that? like put fan controllers or a temp or something?

Well it is quite the beast when it comes to power. I dont think i would probly ever need that much power. And i do agree it is pretty ugly all though the blue led integration is really cool looking.

even if i needed that power i would never use a thermaltake psu.:shadedshu

i happen to like thermaltake. I have there 420watt psu. Works really good.

Really? whats so bad about it??
or whats betta then it?
the main point i was looking at this was the cable mangagement thingy, i saw a silverstone one
but i dont think it would fit in my thermaltake kandalf case because theres a little rention bracket to hold the psu right at the top and i think theres a slight chance of that blocking some of the ports of the silverstone one.

these things are like time bombs.there are so many brands you can choose.
Tagan,Heroichi,Enermax,Fortron etc etc.i`ve got the Enermax liberty 400W modular psu and i` am very very happy with it.
Time bombs?
i never ever had a problem with my psu, except the fact all the wires are all over the place and then i sleeved it and it still looks like shit, and trying to hide it behind the mb tray which is impossible, with all sorts of things in my computer its basicly impossible to hide all the cables. But i think having a psu with good cable mangement thingy would help alot, but u will still see all the cables poking out of the 5.25 unit.

just giving my opinion here.many folks back home had problems with Thermalfake psus.
and with the fact that you have too many options to choose you shouldn`t even think about it..
well we kind of when off topic here which doesnt really hurt the point is who ever has or had a thermaltake 520w powerstation psu and has or is willing to crack it open to see if it is modable.

um not quite my friend, for i did that and it worked like a charm. you just have to know where to put things and how to secure them.

Just put the temperature sensor in there then run wires out of the case to a potentiometer to control the fan. You shouldn't have any space problems. Puting a potentiometer inside the case would probably take up < 1.5 cubic centimeters if you absolutely had to have it inside the PSU..

Of course this highly depends on Case and hardware installed.

When i say modding it i mean like replacing the whole entire front panel with a fan controller or something similar. The front bit is ugly 3 sissy led lights and some yucky writing on it.
I was thinking of putting some like a umm aerocool coolwatch fan controller there, not sure if i can find one down here but.

So you want to put a full sized fan controller inside the powersupply?
Exlactly, or just replace the whole entire front brezel. But i think due to space i would want to replace it with a fan controller.
sorry for the late reply my net was cut for a while
