i had the regular x800xl and it was the r430 core with 16 pipelines

why does the AIW x800xl have r420 core with 16 pipelines?

did i get ripped off? which core is better?

also, now when i play World of Warcraft, i can hear the fan ticking when theres lots of action on the screen... that cant be good...

Maybe because when you're playing a 3D game, you're stressing your card more :P? And I'm not an expert when it comes to ATI cards, but the All-In-Wonder card may have been released earlier, before the core revision came out.

so is the 420 crappier than the 430?

when i open the display properties, it says i have a x800xt, but its an x800xl

bench it with 3dmark05, should be able to tell the difference between 12 and 16 pipes.

...you have the same name as my gaming rig :p ! but yeah, that clicking noise is either a manufactoring defect (fan not seated right will click agains the heatsink) or a really stupid cooler, but if you're talking fan humming noise, then its just a really obnoxious good cooler (like the stock one on my X850! :p ) Either way, if you really get bothered, get the ATISilencer4. And theres no real difference between the cores that I can tell (except a couple of Mhz and maybe different temps, but I honestly dont know). All you need to know is that you have 16 pipes, and can play your games :D .
Good Gaming! :D

if you get a bios dump of your card i could hex the bios so it enables the other 4 pipelines, weather their damaged or not though youll have to find out. if your really unlucky, the pipelines will be locked on a hardware level.
