As you may (or may not) know Im looking for an SATA HDD, Ive found an SATA 120GB @ Overclockers for £50 but they also have an SATA-II 160GB for only £53 and paying an extra £3 for an added 40GB is very nice :) BUT can I use an SATA-II HDD on my motherboard????? C'mon guys I need your help, if my mobo is only SATA compatible will the SATA-II downgrade so it works anyway  (obviously with some performance loss)

For an extra £30'ish you can grab a 320GB SATA HDD....

S-ATA 2 should be backwards compatible to S-ATA but I am not sure since I dont own a S-ATA 2 drive. Someone confirm this please.

almost all sataII drives work as sataI.i`ve got the barracuda NCQ and its working fine on my P4P800.they come with a jumper to change from sata 300 to sata 150 or they change automatically due to chipset compatibility.
