We got some 19" Dell LCDs in our Introduction to Engineering & Design class earlier this week, and I must say they are mighty sexy. They only run 1280x1024, but they're still very nice. So I got to looking at 2005fpw's and I'm very intrigued. I'm basically sold, but I need to get the paint on my car fixed first. Anywho, I was wondering, would this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824112176) be just as good? I'm thinking it's even better because it has a contrast ratio of 800:1 whereas the Dell has 600:1. I assume the higher the left number, the better the contrast is. Am I correct?

It looks pretty good and has is a fast 8ms response time. The only thing I am always weary about is non-named brand LCDs. I usually go with Samsung, Sony, ACER or ViewSonic. But looks like a pretty good buy.

Well, I figure I can always return it if I'm dissatisfied.
Anybody want to buy a P95f+B for $200 or so?:D It's a year old and can run up to 2048x1536. I run 1600x1200@85hz, it also has UltraBrite. I will be honest and say the picture does not display as a perfect square, the sides have odd curves in them. However after calibration they are hardly noticable. It came this way out of the box and it never bothered me once I adjusted the monitor.
I can provide pics if anybody would like. One can be found in my photobucket. It isn't sitting on it's stand, but I still have it. I also have the original box with all of the styrofoam.

Where can I find out if my graphics card can run 1680x1050? I'm seeing other 16x9 ratios as I scroll through my resolution options under my settings, including 1920x1200, but not 1680x1050.

Well I've done my research on the thing and it seems there are only two downsides to it. One is sometimes people will get instances of tearing (don't know what this is exactly, but it doesn't sound fun). However it has been fixed by a firmware update that is on the current version monitors, and the older ones can be sent back for the update. So that's really not much of a negative. However one that definitely is is that the monitor position isn't adjustable.
It's about $80 cheaper than the 2005fpw, has a 4ms quicker response time, and has a better contrast ratio by 200.
Think I should go with it if I can get somebody to buy my current monitor?

Hmm, so nobody wants to buy my monitor? Not even for $175? It was originally $250.

Its how many shades the monitor will display between black and white.
I've been told anyway, never checked into it properly, but it seems plausable :P
