I have read the main thread about unlocking GTO cards but I couldnt find a mention of my particular card in there.
I have a PCI-E HIS X800GTO ICEQII Turbo card. It has an R480 core (according to ATI Tool) and a power connector.

It looks like I can flash this to 16 pipes but I don't know which bios to use. (I'm not sure if it has 2.0ns or 1.6ns chips)
Can someone help me out please?
You are lucky, it lookls like you can flush it to 16P,The memory type looks like this: K4J553230F-GC20 (16) if the last mumber on the memory is 20 than you hawe 2.0ns or if you hawe 16 than is 1.6ns. Good Luck!!!!

I dont suppose there's any way to tell which type of memory I have without removing the heatspreader? How do the bioses for 2.0 and 1.6 memory differ anyway? Memory timings?
dump the bios whit atitool, and send me tha bios and ill tell you.

Here it is: http://rapidshare.de/files/14676404/HISGTObios.bin.html
Flush this bios(http://rapidshare.de/files/14677570/hisgto16p.rom.html) (is your old bios but whit 16p) whit the command: atiflash -p 0 -newbios hisgto16p.rom -f
Good Luck

Why is the file a .rom not a .bin? Does it make any difference?
No no just flush it!! Atitool dump the bios whit **.bin while rabit wich i used to change your bios saves **.rom.

Well it flashed successfully, thanks for your help!
Here's my 3dMark05 scores:
400/490/12pp: 4544
500/500/12pp: 5225
400/490/16pp: 5104
500/500/16pp: 5820
500/590/16pp: 6185
I think the memory may be able to go a little higher but any higher on the core results in a crash and hard reeboot.
It hits 64 degrees max when scanning for artifacts with ATI Tool.

I would like to do this with my x800. It's the same card and I'm sure the same bios. I matched up mulders screenshot of ati tool with mine and everything lined up. I am not sure how to dump the bios though. The button in ati tool is grayed out...

I'm sorry i don't know why your dump bios button would be greyed out, maybe you could pm mmx about this? I dunno about the memory either, I don't really want to take off the heatspreader to look at it.
If you have problems with ATITool get the BIOS in DOS mode using atiflash.

thanks for the advice dolf...any tips on doing that? I'm just doing a good old uninstall of my graphics drivers followed by driver cleaner pro and now just want to unlock those 16 pipes....after I get the bios backed up, how would I flash it seeing that I do not own a floppy drive? I have the Ultimate Boot Disc "collection" on a cd but I don't think that would help me save a back up bios because I am sure the disc would not be able to be written too.
Look if necessary uninstall and install the video card in the slot again. Install ATITool again or try with ATI Tray Tools. It has the same option.

I was able to dump the bios with ati tray tools and now that program tells me I have 540+ fps in the 3d render whereas atitool gives me 12-13fps in it's rendering window...
