I tried the modded bios and all it did was unlock the pipes, but no voltage control in ati tool :(

Boost - its real simple to unlock... download HXD hex editor here http://www.mh-nexus.de/downloads/HxDen.zip

Then open your bios. At the left you'll see a row of numbers. Follow down until you see 00000070. Follow that line to the right until you see the value "19" highlight it, and change it to 18... Now save it as a different name with quotes, like "newbios.rom"

Open the new bios in RaBiT2.1 and ignore the "bad bios" message (its a bad checksum but rabit fixes it automatically)

In rabit you can set voltages up by 10% at a time. If you want the full 1.45V just save the bios and load it again after every 10% boost...

At 1.45V 16p I get 700/700

I got a Sapphire X1800 GTO, i was editing my bios like chrom says but no 16 pipes, then i downloaded a Sapphire x1800Xl bios and with this bios and my gto modfied bios i make like here http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=4457340&postcount=45 and i cand set my voltages and see temps in atitool, i overclocked my card to 630/630 with 1.35 v on gpu, i was able to go 700/680 but i have no more power from my PSU i think, i will change my PSU with somtehing 500W and 40 amps and see were i goes, 4 now this are my 3d scores.

Flash it from dos. Search for step by step directions and follow them carefully. I don't want to scare you, but you could ruin the card if not done properly. But then again, you could ruin your clothes if not washed properly so following directions isn't all that hard ;P

His instructions are correct, but I wouldnt flash the saphxl bios unless yours is an IceQ version. Turns out the only ones that had any difference from flashing an xl bios then a gto bios were the iceq versions

I can confirm these two methods http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=4457340&postcount=45 , http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=115422&postcount=6 worked wonderfully for my HIS X1800GTO IceQ3 and my step-brothers card :rockout: . Thanks guys for all the great help :respect: . I was able to unlock the remaining 4 pipes to 16 and view tempature, fan control, and voltages in ATI Tool. Havnt had too much time to play with the card but i have no problems hitting default XT clocks. No artifacts for 10 minutes at 599/697 with 1.275v on the core with ATI Tool. Using the original bios and 12pipes i was able to hit 730/760 100% stable with max temps. from 64-67c Will post up more info. when i push the card further with 16pipes enabled.

Well, I was running 12 pipe 600/600 but the fucking bastard has since decided to act up. It locks up on me, so I am now running 550/600. I bet it's my cheap ass power supply thats causing the problem.

Edit: I am now running 585/650, everything is smooth again, I got my 3dark scores back and the card runs cooler.

I did the unlocking part of the instructions, and it worked fine. Upped the voltage to 1.25 and it unlocked without any problems. It's running at 650/650 totally stable and only get to about 53C when fully loaded. Pretty good I think :)

You should try cooling it alittle better. With those IceQ versions, with a simple method of flashing you can unlock the memory voltage and core voltage control in ATITool. I've seen IceQ versions get to 700/800 with good cooling.

Also, you seem to have a decent processor. What is your 3dmark05 score? 06?

Well for now I'm using the IceQ cooler and it does the job ok I think. The temps only went up by 1-2C. For now I'm pretty happy with being at 650/650 as it's maxing out my cpu already. It's my mem that's holding it back (got a very slow 512MB value stick alongside 2x256MB HyperX).

3DMark05 - 8384
3DMark06 - 3809 (both with the slow stick plugged in).

Tried removing the slow stick yesterday and up the fsb to about 220 (x10 multiplier) to keep the same speed for comparison.
3DMark05 - 8795
3DMark06 - 3848,
so there's a bit of improvement to be had with new faster mem.. when I can afford it..

Sound Card;

try using the hex editor bios mod first... Your going into unknown waters here my friend. I'd say flash an xt bios to it, but you never know if that would F it up.
