Id like to no what the name of this connection is. Its a slimline dvd drive for a laptop but i need a IDE adaper for desktop to use it but i dont no what the connection is. cheers guys

its some kind of ZIF (zero insertion force) socket.

you might actually be able to unscrew that off the end and find a regular connection underneath it.

its not EISA, its just a special laptop specific adaptor

unscrew those screws and take the end off, and you'll find a more standard connector.

true that connector in my link only has 50 pins where his cd rom has 70 :eek:

a laptop harddrive only has 44pins
so i also thinks he needs to remove them screws
(it would probably be cheaper to buy a new dvd drive

mine only cost me £25 for a 20x dvd write speed new )

i love u guys i took the screws of an yes it was some form of adapter, good news is i already have a ide adapter but as it didnt fit i thought i needed a different one, this is great guys cheers uve saved me 30 of quid
