cheers for the help but somthing strange has just happend

I dont know what has happend but i had a adobe flash update and a windows 7 update this weekend 11/02/2011 and since the update my gfx card stops on 1200mhz on youtube videos now and does not tear flash anymore as the memory clock stops at 1200mhz and does not change.

also when playing videos the card still drops to 900mhz from 1200mhz mem clock but the flashing or tearing does not seem to be as bad at all to be honest its very hard to see it happen now, it still happens but its been reduced by alot hardly see it and its right at the bottem of the monitor.

wounder what the updates did but there is a change

very strange indeed

you noticed anything

might still try the reixx program to see if it still helps

Nah I still have the issue. ULPS just is not actually disabling on my system or something else is getting in the way. Time to try on a clean install I guess.

Clean install likely won't help you... here are quotes from what I found online
"It is the drivers , single card overvolts works fine with Trixx, dual crashes, mine does the same"

"trixx is a hit or miss but crashes when applying anything and CCC is installed"

"I use afterburner beta 4 and works like a charm" <-- referring to 6850 crossfire OCing

"Trixx works. Is there is new version? Everyone seems to have crossfire issues. Turn off enable ulps and DO NOT uncheck the sync box or it will go to hell in a hand basket.

It worked fine for me till AB beta 4 came out."

" if you want to use Afterburner and Crossfire, you have to disable ULPS"

"REG editing perfectly solved my problem but I haveUm, it IS an option, called "Disable ATI CrossfireX power savings"

"EnableUnofficialOverclocking to 1 if u have a unlocked bios, also u don't have to disable ULPS in the registry.(for crossfire) For cfx and set EnableUnofficialOverclocking to 1 u also have to disable ULPS"

"MSI Afterburner, with Youtube/flash + hardware acceleration + dual screens causing a crash or simply a BSOD. Having used RBE to alter the bios to new clock speeds, I no longer experience the Youtube/flash/hardware-acceleration crash, and yet keep the UVD and "2D" mode working flawlessly for my two screens."

Some people have luck of sorts with the newest 11.1a drivers but my suggestion rather than using a program, flash both cards to the speed you want than you will no longer need Trixx or any other program... I flashed my card but stupid AMD drivers have fan control and I use Trixx to control the fan only.

Well I know it can work though, at least on 69xx series from reports here as well as my buddy jimmyz.

I wont be wiping my system but installing on a diff drive. I am thinking about flashing them as well at this point...

So it's the same deal on 5800 series? If so can't believe I never saw more complaints.

if you flash your bios with all the mem clocks set to 1200mhz so it will not drop the mem clocks will the fan still adjust itself if it starts to get hot and has more load on the GFX card?

just to let you know the new version of the flash player is up and its seem to stop droping the mem clocks down as mine now stops on 1200mhz when playing any youtube video so the flashing is gone.

i herd they added multi monitor support to this version but flash does not drop my my mem clocks from 1200mhz to 900mhz anymore

still have the problem with Hd videos using windows media player when running GFX acceleration.

but been using vlc player with it turned off and stops the flashing or tearing on multi monitors.

still dont knnow what to do with the bios thing

The fan works based on temps not on clocks, memory over-clocks use far less power than core over-clocks so it will mainly be the core clocks speeding up the fan and producing most of the heat when it comes to over-clocking.

At this time I haven't looked up much in the way of multi monitor issues, will have to be another day... Meridius you best bet is to search for people with the same model video card what ever HD number you have and and "HD #### multi monitor issues" or "HD #### multi screen issues" or "HD #### multi display issues" and see what you can find.

1. Improved fan control to use less CPU resource.
2. Improved text rendering quality, in settings dialog for example.
3. When changing clock, AMD PowerTune setting is not reset to 0 as in previous versions.
4. Add GPU overvolting support on SAPPHIRE HD6950 and HD6970. Please refer to TriXX product support table.
5. Add hardware monitor gadget.

Progress! Under a clean install I do not blue screen trying to OC with this util (and others iirc). My registry must have just been worn and torn; ULPS not actually disabling probably.

However I am not totally there as it is only overclocking the main card...

Good catch. I didn't even notice they released a new one. Voltage on the 6900 series at last!

Hashes are the same as the file I downloaded directly from Sapphire:
Code:
md5sum
4d4dc403148538fc7f5a5c7c1c97067e *Sapphire TriXX OC Utility beta V3.0.4.exe

sha1sum
de5fecc42f2a0f7c24ea579a6139b1e320c52281 *SAPPHIRE_TriXX_Installer_beta_v3.0.4.exe

I'll update my post. Thanks! :toast:

No one has any idea why it's not clocking my second card too? Who else here has Crossfire?

Did you enable clock synchronisation?

W1zzard exactly what type of 6950/6970`s fall within the suported products range ?

I have a Sapphire Radeon HD6970 with 2GB video memory and the voltage slider is unavailable in TriXX 3.04

I am using Catalyst 11.2 (oficial build), and Windows 7 x64. The video card was bought in late december, so I assume it`s based on the original PCB design (with voltterra VRM-s).

Anyway, good job on fixing up the PowerTune issue

Then I guess you should OC them apart from each other (with the clock synchronisation disabled). It's probably a safety measure, as not every card is the same when it comes to OCing capabilities.

Ok...which I would have tried but I don't see how to switch between the cards like you can with the pull down in CCC and GPU-Z, for example. Actually figured perhaps it wasn't possible. At least, it's pretty unintuitive and/or hidden cause I ain't seeing it...

Well, I just tried to "think along", if you get my meaning. I don't have a clue either in the latter case. sorry.

Can anyone confirm or deny if it's possible to clock cards independently in TriXX? Sure doesn't seem so. If so how do I switch to my second card?

why would you want to clock your cards independently?

1. Maximum points for benchmarking. Maximum clocks differ on different cards.

2. I prefer my "slave" cards to be slightly faster in rendering in an attempt to deal with the latency of data exchange to the "master". I wish the driver would do this automatically.

3. Disabling of powersaving features in 2D rendering, but similar clocks for 3D. I like to have main card clocked up to 3D clocks during 2D work, for various reasons. But I also don't need "slave" cards to clock up, only the one the monitors are attached to. I guess really what I want is full "powerplay" control for each card independantly.

Because it isn't clocking the second one at all and so someone suggested that. Note I have made progress with Trixx on a clean Win 7 install and ULPS must be actually disabling now because it does not blue screen anymore. However, it's only clocking the main card (confirmed via GPU-Z while gaming). "Slave" stays at 775/1000. Yes I have Synchronize Clocks option checked. Any other way to confirm/deny the Synch option is actually enabled? The registry?

I do need to just try it again though. The clean install I was referring to was on an old HDD I setup to test various Catalyst versions for any IQ diffs. I now have a NEW clean install for main system just completed last night on my new SSD.
