couldn't ms allow the 360 to play games through the hddvd drive as is suspect when those new 65/45 nm boxes start being shipped we will see the 360 coming standard with an hddvd in place of the regular dvd drive

and for the record the playstation controller has allways sucked for anything besides sports &rpg games not including racing

as the article stated, the original xbox also did the same thing, it uncompressed most used files on the hdd so the game can have faster loading times and less space on the dvd. Plus, it not cost effective for the consumer to buy a $150-200 drive, then on top the media for hd-dvd is gonna cost another $15-20.

It makes a concern here while not on the original xbox, is that the 360 also was sold without a hdd (while all original xbox were sold with one)...So this causes and issue with core users.

as for the controller, its has gotten better over the years. Its still kinda crappy for FPS (but new ps3 fps are having the ability to able to use a keyboard and mouse). Still solid on sports and rpg (as you stated). and racing is much better now for the L2 and R2 are very similar to the triggers on the 360 remote. All in all, it depends on the game dev if they really think out a great controller setup for the console.

Bottom line, MS will not make the HD-DVD Drive required to play games.

they will probably just make a multi disk game or one that requires to be installed to play.

I really doubt that. A multi-disc game, MS wouldn't do that. A big + for consoles is that there is no installation needed for games, just put the disc in and play. Now why would you want to install your console games? That's just not right...not going to happen at all.

Guess what, Sales for Sony's new 80GB Playstation 3 model increased 5,685 percent on today morning on amazon.com, today being the beginning of pre-sales for the product.

http://news.punchjump.com/article.php?id=4617

but if you look at it more, its kinda a rip off. It cost possibly for sony $2-4 more to switch from 60 to 80. For $100, you can buy your self a 100-160gb hdd. Motorstorm, being 60 bucks atm, being a launch title, sooner or later it will be a greatest hit, resulting to a $20-30 game. According to the wiki...these are new manufacture reductions that sony done (more to come, such has combining devices such as wifi and bluetooth in to a single chip, and rsx from a 90nm to 65nm...). Plus no news on the rumored rumble six axis. These reductions are:

* Blu-ray (cost reduction: US$100)
* Cell B.E.(cost reduction: US$29 - US$40)
* EE+GS removal (cost reduction: US$27)
* Chipset Modifications: Sony have removed a CXD9208GP, 2 RDRAM chips(US$5)

Finally, the 80gb is replacing the 60gb, so if you want the best (and possible always the best) ps3 unit, get your hands on the 60gb before its to late.
